BURLINGAME, CALIFORNIA - AUGUST 10: Justin Sousa, Head of Developer Community at Roblox, presents at the Roblox Developer Conference on August 10, 2019 in Burlingame, California.

Although the sound effect has been available on Roblox for quite some time now, it originated from another game.

The "oof" sound initially saw the light of day in the action-adventure PC game known as Messiah, which debuted more than two days ago or way back in 2000.

And the specific sound effect was created by no less than Tommy Tallarico during the new millennium.

But in 2020, Roblox and the creator of the iconic "oof" sound have forged a deal, wherein both of them would earn some money from the sound effect.

And as such, according to a recent report by The Gamer, the "oof" sound has become a microtransaction, which requires players to shell out roughly a dollar or 100 Robux.

But this time, the gaming platform has officially ditched the "oof" sound when its players die in favor of a new sound effect.

Roblox Adds Sounds to Avatar Shop

On top of replacing the "oof" sound altogether, Roblox also teased that it would include sound effects in its Avatar store,

It should enable Roblox players to buy sounds from various licensors and creators, allowing them to customize the sounds of their avatars.

That said, it also opens the possibility of having the "oof" sound officially for sale at the Avatar store soon. But it remains to be seen if there are any plans for that.
