Don't Expect Apple Mac Releases in 2022; Here's Gurman's Explanation

Apple Mac releases are unlikely to happen until 2022 ends. This means that the next batch of releases, including the new versions of MacBook, Mac Pro, and Mac Mini, will happen early next year.

Award-winning journalist Mark Gurman, in his Newsletter published in Bloomberg on Sunday, Oct. 30, wrote that the Cupertino tech company is set to roll out new Macs in 2023.

Apple, Gurman claimed, will unveil improved models of the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros in the early part of next year.

The launch of these M2-based versions of MacBook Pros will also coincide with the launching of iOS 16.3 and macOS Ventura 13.3, he said.

Apple Has Set Lineup

During the fourth-quarter earnings report on Thursday, CEO Tim Cook hinted that the company's "product lineup is set." That's another way of saying no new product releases for a remaining couple of months.

Luca Maestri, Apple CFO, was more direct when he talked of a challenging year during the same event.

The company released the new designs of 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros backed by M1 Pro and M1 Mx chips this month, contributing to $10.9 billion in revenue from Mac.

With new product releases having to wait until the first quarter of next year, the Mac revenue is expected to be lower than that.

Maestri was referring to 2021, when the Cupertino tech company had "the benefit of the launch and associated channel to fill our newly redesigned MacBook Pro with M11."

The language by both Apple executives indicated that the next batch of product releases will have to wait until 2023.

Mac Pro

The timing of the releases of the new product lineup would also give Apple the time it needed to prepare the Mac Pro for launch.

Apple, according to MacRumors, is prepping up the Mac Pro with a configuration of 24 CPU cores, 192GB, and 76 graphics cores.

To give the Mac Pro performance, at least two or four more powerful than the M2 Max chip, M2 Ultra, and M2 Extreme chips will power the Mac Pro.

New Mac Mini, But Mac Pro Is a Standout

Apple is also completing the work on the M2 chip-powered new Mac mini, 9to5mac reports.

This M2 chip is the same one that powers the 13-inch MacBook Pro and Air, launched in June.

Gurman, however, said Mac Pro is a natural standout with awesome specs.

The award-winning journalist believes that Mac Pro will be given the option of getting 24 and 48 CPU cores and 192 GB of memory. It will also come with 192 GB of memory.

Mac Pro is "running masOS Ventura 13.0," Gurman wrote.

That being said, Apple plans to include the MacBook Pro and Mac mini in the next batch of product launching in 2023.

Most Likely Launching Date

The company has seldom launched new products either in January or February. Most likely, the new Macs will be introduced by March, which also coincides with the shipping schedule of the software.

Apple had originally planned to roll out the new Macs in the Fall of 2022, but it backtracked off the planned release.
