HoYoverse Reveals New Genius Invocation TCG Trailer — Watch It Here!

Genius Invocation TCG has entered the arena with its first trailer.

HoYoverse recently gave players their first glimpse of Genius Invocation TCG, the in-universe trading card game of Genshin Impact, through its first-ever trailer.

HoYoverse set the game's release any time within Genshin Impact's 3.3 update, which is expected to drop on Dec. 7.

HoYoverse's trailer for Genius Invocation TCG didn't reveal much about the game and its mechanics, but what it did reveal is enough to whet gamers' appetite.

The game appears similar to The Witcher series' Gwent and Blizzard's World of Warcraft-based card game Hearthstone, wherein cards can bang against each other to deal damage rather than have animations do it for them. Attack animations are spotted in the trailer, though, meaning the game doesn't have card banging as its only attack animation.

Unlike these two games, though, Genius Invocation TCG feature a watered-down version of Genshin Impact and condensed it into a trading card game. As expected, players take turns dealing damage to each other, adding buffs and debuffs wherever necessary. As such, players can use elemental reactions such as Frozen, Swirl, and Burning to create devastating element-based attacks.

In addition to the trading card game's reveal, Genshin Impact players may soon enter Mondstadt's Cat's Tail tavern, where Diona of the Kätzlein bloodline works as its most popular bartender.

The tavern is the only one players can't access as Mondstadt's other popular tavern, Angels' Share, has been available since the game's release.

Cat's Tail may be one of many locations players can enjoy Genius Invocation TCG, but whether it will be the only location available come Genshin Impact's 3.3 update remains to be seen.

Genius Invocation TCG Details

A typical Genius Invocation TCG match involves two players going up against each other using character cards that can deal damage through normal attacks, elemental skills, and elemental bursts. Most, if not all, characters in Genshin Impact, as well as enemies like the various Fatui Skirmishers and Kairagi, have their character cards in the game.

Additionally, players must use Action Cards to swap character cards to trigger elemental reactions and apply buffs and effects to gain a better advantage over opponents.

According to PCGamesN, the trading card game lets players utilize Equipment cards, Support cards, and Event cards to strengthen a character card, provide buffs, and give one-time effects when used, respectively.

However, performing these actions consumes a certain number of Elemental Dice, making dice rolling at the beginning of each round crucial to a player's victory.

Game8 reports that players can get new cards and unlock new opponents and character card dynamic skins by earning enough Player Experience by beating Genius Invocation TCG opponents.

Players can also unlock new cards by buying them through Price, the Duel Saint of Cats in Cat's Tail, with Lucky Coins, which could be acquired through completing Genius Invocation TCG match challenges.
