Disney+ has released the official trailer for its upcoming Original series "American Born Chinese." The series, which is set to premiere on May 24, reunites Academy Award winners and "Everything Everywhere All at Once" co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan.
The release of the official trailer also comes with the announcement of new additions made to the cast members, as well as the characters each cast member will play in the series.
Disney+ Trailer for 'American Born Chinese'
Disney+ has revealed the official trailer for "American Born Chinese" and before we get to talking about the Original series, let's all watch the trailer first. Without further ado, here is the official trailer for the series, which began filming last year.
'American Born Chinese'
The Disney+ press release for the official trailer's debut describes "American Born Chinese" as a series that "chronicles the trials and tribulations of a regular American teenager whose life is forever changed when he befriends the son of a mythological god." It is based on a graphic novel of the same name by Gene Luen Yang.
"This is the story of a young man's battle for his own identity, told through family, comedy, and action-packed Kung-Fu," Disney says in its press release.
The series is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who likewise serves as executive producer. Emmy Award winner Kelvin Yu is likewise an executive producer of the series while also serving as showrunner.
It is scheduled for release on May 24.
'American Born Chinese' Cast
As previously mentioned, Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan lead the cast for the Disney+ series and the two Academy Award winners will play the roles of Guan Yin and Freddy Wong, respectively. Joining them are Ben Wang, International Emmy Award Nominee Yeo Yann Yann, Chin Han, and Daniel Wu. Former Taekwondo champion Jimmy Liu as well as Sydney Taylor are part of the cast as well.
Ben Wang plays the role of Jin Wang, the central character of the story of "American Born Chinese." Yeon Yann Yann and Chin Han play Christine Wang and Simong Wang, respectively.
Disney+'s press release for the official trailer likewise lists guest stars that the audience can expect to see on the show. These include Academy Award Nominee Stephanie Hsu, James Hong, Ronny Chieng, Jimmy O. Yang, Leonard Wu, and Poppy Liu. New additions to the cast are Lisa Lu and Rosalie Chiang.
Fans of "Everything Everywhere All at Once" will probably note that this Disney+ series reunites Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan, James Hong, and Stephanie Hsu after the award-winning movie.
