Netflix has a lot of movies and shows to offer, which might make it a bit difficult for some users to find the content they like. While the tabs can provide you with more suggestions, it's also nice to know that there's a separate tab just for the things you've earmarked.
My Netflix
The 'My Netflix' tab can be found at the bottom-right corner of the app which separates all the shows you want and plan to watch, instead of them being included with all the other recommendations from the streaming service.
That means that instead of going from row to row just to find the content list you've curated for yourself, you'll have an entire space for it. That includes movies and shows on "My List," notifications, and your "Continue Watching" row, as mentioned in Engadget.
It will add movies and shows that you watched the trailers of, which adds a new feature to Netflix. The company claims that the tab will have more content the more you interact with the platform, which means rating them would help with curating your tab.
You won't be able to find the Downloads tab anymore since it has been replaced by "My Netflix," but it's no trouble since your downloads are already included in the new tab anyway. Sadly for Android users, the feature won't be available until August, but iOS users can now access it worldwide.
Since your tab will rely on the content you've chosen from Netflix's overall library, you will still need to interact with the platform's main interface, especially if you want to add more things to watch on your own tab.
This is another way for Netflix to not only retain its existing subscribers but to encourage other users to sign up as well. The company has been pretty busy with changes lately, and some of them aren't exactly good news for some subscribers.
ICYMI: Netflix Removed the Basic Plan
Despite its success after the password crackdown, Netflix decided to remove its cheapest ad-free plan for future users in the US and the UK. That means that when you do sign up for the first time or want to change subscription plans, the $9.99 plan is no longer an option.
Luckily for those who are already subscribed to the Basic tier before the removal, they can keep the plan, as long as they don't change tiers, of course, since they will no longer be able to go back to the Basic plan after that.
Netflix Co-CEO Greg Peters says that the reason for the change was to optimize the platform's plan structure, which will give Netflix users both old and new access across a wide range of prices, as mentioned in The Verge.
Peters added that the company believes the entry prices that Netflix has "represent an amazing entertainment value and are attracting a healthy share of signups." The option has already been removed in Canada in the previous month, which means it was already Netflix's intention for some time.
