Horror Fest for Free: 5 Scary Series to Binge-Watch Online

Binge-watching horror shows are a great way to pass through sleepovers and movie nights with friends. The tension and the thrill make the night more exciting. At least, from the comfort of your house.

However, many series now are often locked away in various paid subscription services which makes it more difficult to enjoy all without switching streaming networks.

That is why here are some free and easy-to-access horror shows available online that you can binge-watch all you want. Legally, of course.

Crypt TV

Crypt TV has existed on YouTube for over six years now and has continued to improve in delivering compelling horror stories to both new and longtime fans.

Combining practical effects, realistic-looking costumes, and a bit of CGI, each episode of the long-running anthropology series is sure to give watchers some chills from all the gruesome portrayals shown.

Kane Pixels' 'The Backrooms'

The Backrooms has existed on the internet for a long time across various creepy pastas and lore forum sites.

Film director and CGI master Kane Parsons (Kane Pixels) reimagine the now famous yellow-colored walls of The Backrooms into a mystery drama filled with hidden lore and government conspiracies.

A feature film adaptation from A24 Films, the studio that brought to us "Midsommar" and "Everything Everywhere All at Once," in collaboration with Parsons is even currently cooking.

This is a testament to how good the original series is, which is still available on YouTube.

The Birch

If you want a series that is already complete and easy to watch, then "The Birch" is perfect for you.

Similar to Crypt TV, the series uses both practical and digital effects to enhance the horror aspects of its monsters.

The difference, however, is that "The Birch" is a regular horror series rather than an anthology series like Crypt TV.

Despite that, the series is a must-watch for those fans of Guillermo del Toro's "Pan's Labyrinth" or the creatures from "The Witcher" series.

Mandela Catalogue

Diving down into YouTube analog horror series, usual recommendations will usually be "Local 58" or "Mandela Catalogue."

As a series on itself, "Mandela Catalogue" has a more cohesive storyline involving deceptive "angels" trying to replace humans in the idyllic Mandela County.

Alex Kister, the series creator, utilizes various elements like TVs, phones, old cameras, and VHS recordings to really sell the analog theme in horror.

And unlike other analog-themed spooks online, the use of older technology is greatly incorporated into the story, making it a worthwhile watch for those who want some found footage type of horror.

TheSunVanished

If you want a series combining social media aspects and thriller horrors, then the mysterious story of TheSunVanished's X (formerly Twitter) account might suit you.

Similar to "Marble Hornets," a classic found footage horror on YouTube, the series of videos follow the story of an unnamed protagonist trying to survive a post-apocalyptic world where the sun vanished.

It is worth noting that the creators of the account have recently taken a break to recover their mental health.

However, all videos and posts are still available on the account, so first-timers can still jump into the series if they want to.
