X Pushes Entertainment Initiative, Plans to Launch TV App Soon

X is launching a TV app soon as the social media platform attempts to push into video and entertainment content.

The X TV app has yet to confirm its launch date but the company hinted that it would be "coming soon to most smart TVs."

X Continues 'Everything App' Agenda

One of Elon Musk's visions for X after rebranding the platform is to develop it beyond its text and image-based culture. The X owner promised to make the platform an "everything app" by introducing various features to the app.

In a recent post, X CEO Linda Yaccarino that the platform targets to bring real-time engaging content using the TV app. The upcoming app is equipped with a trending video algorithm, AI-powered topics, enhanced video search, and more.

The CEO also shared that the X TV app is still under development at the moment. "This will be your go-to companion for a high-quality, immersive entertainment experience on a larger screen," she added.

What to Expect on X TV App

The app will not feature ads upon its launch, based on the note sent to company partners that was obtained by The Hollywood Reporter. According to the report, the app launch will focus on introducing it to the consumers first.

However, X is firm with its plan to monetize the platform and will gradually introduce ads after a few months. The X TV app is also backed by the company's data which shows that users have been watching videos for 385 million hours in the past month.

Previously, X has been securing high-profile partnerships to help them professionally produce content on the platform. In addition, the company has been introducing additional features and boosting the benefits that are only available to its Premium subscribers.
