Sonos Improves Mobile, Web App for Streaming Music

In a blog post, Sonos introduced the new enhanced features on its app. The upgraded home screen provides an overview of all the content and controls in one place. Users can also browse and see the available services where they can play their music.

In addition, the app also allows seamless selection across all available streaming libraries. The system control, which can be activated by swiping up, provides an overview of the current playlist, can group speakers, and allows tuning for the perfect volume.

The web browser also offers the same features. Sonos also provides a seamless system control that allows web app users to control their devices the same way in the mobile app.

Sonos Experiences Bugs on Updated App

Despite its promising enhancements, Sonos' new app is bombarded with complaints from its users. Some iPhone users reported losing their entire music library on a network-attached storage (NAS).

While the search tab is visible on the web app, the mobile app has eliminated the music library search. This elimination of the feature made it difficult for users to browse their digital music from NAS devices.

On the other hand, some users reported some bugs when grouping the speakers through the app. According to them, the system selects the first speaker by default and the grouping failed to work.

Sonos explained that the company is still "fine-tuning" the app and will start to release more updates in the following months.
