More Xbox Exclusives Might Be Ported to PS5, Switch per Microsoft CEO’s Demand

Console exclusives from both Xbox and PS5 continue to be a huge factor for players in deciding which unit they should buy, and it looks like the PS5 might win that battle soon. Some reports say more Xbox exclusives are set to be ported to its competing gaming devices.

Xbox Exclusives Are Coming to the PS5

The gaming division is not the only one under Microsoft that's pressured to be more profitable, but it might just be the one who will sacrifice a lot. After all, exclusives are part of the selling point of both consoles, and Xbox will be losing a significant aspect if it loses exclusivity to games.

Still, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella is reportedly pushing Xbox to publish more of its titles to both PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, which is causing internal debates and "unease" among staff, as reported by Kotaku

There are already a couple of titles ported to PS5 such as Sea of Thieves, Grounded, Penteniment, and Hi-Fi Rush. Right now, major titles like Starfield are still unavailable on PS5, but PC players already have access to them.

When the new game ports were announced, PS5 players were hoping that space-faring game along with Indiana Jones would be included in the list, but the platform is still holding them close. Xbox Head Phil Spencer said that both mentioned games are not jumping platforms any time soon.

However, that might change now that Microsoft's CEO has set new aims for the company, which is said to be called Operation Latitude. Some of the biggest franchises that Xbox can port include Halo, Forza Horizon, and Gears of War

This won't help with the sales of the Xbox consoles, but it will help the gaming division of Microsoft as a whole as it earns more from sales. It can even be used to develop more games for large franchises like the ones mentioned above.

PlayStation is Not as Open

PC and Xbox players hope they can say the same about PlayStation, but it seems that the gaming giant is still stingy with its games. Sure, there are already a couple of exclusives available to PC like God of War, Horizon Forbidden West, and The Last of Us.

However, Sony's gaming division has been facing backlash, especially after what it pulled with Helldivers 2. After two months of PC players being able to play the game without a PSN account, the game suddenly required it before anyone could play.

Sony realized the error in their ways and rescinded the requirement, but the game has been taken down in countries without PSN, which is over 170 locations. Not only that but the PC port for Ghost of Tsushima has been canceled for the affected countries as well, as per Tom's Guide.

With the game delisted from over 170 countries, pre-orders have been refunded for those who already paid for the game. It's a controversial take considering that the majority of the title does not require online access, which requires a PSN account.
