Minecraft Celebrates 15th Anniversary

Minecraft was initially released in 2009 for its Java Edition. The game was widely launched in 2011 to what everyone knows it today. For 15 years, the game managed to become one of the most popular hits in the video game landscape.

The game's original premise is to be strong enough to defeat the Ender Dragon. However, its rich gaming community contributed to the countless mods, features, and data packs that have completely enhanced Minecraft.

Mojang released a new free map to celebrate its 15th anniversary. Java Realms subscribers can get the free map for Minecraft Java Edition. The map includes the Nether Ninjas Resort, the Mundi Bunker, Novo Ard, The Party Garden, and Plagiatu's Lighthouse.

Minecraft Offers Anniversary Discounts, Freebies

Mojang announced that a series of activities will be held by distributing free items to Minecraft players. Every day, the developers will be giving away a new Character Creator item that symbolizes the game's history.

As of writing, Minecraft released a free Game Mode hoodie and free Crafting Cap. Players can continue to claim their freebies at the Dressing Room in Minecraft Bedrock Edition until May 29.

Other Minecraft games are also on sale with a 50% discount. This includes Minecraft: Java & Bedrock Edition, Minecraft Dungeons, and Minecraft Legends. All games are now sold for only $19.99. The game is also available on Android and iOS devices with a 70% discount.
