Fallout 4: 7 Interesting Things You Can Do in Settlements

The beauty of Fallout 4 is that the settlement-building aspect feels like another game altogether. You can spend hours in the workshop making the perfect haven for settlers. There are a lot of things you can do so it's normal to overlook some things. Here are projects you might be interested in adding to your settlements.

1. A Bar Where Settlers Can Unwind

You can create a bar where your settlers can hang out when the day is over. They tend to spend their spare time in locations where there are chairs and tables, so you can expect them to flock to the bar. There is already a Store you can use to actually make it functional, and you can manually stock it with booze.

2. A Gym to Make Settlers Happy

If you're having trouble keeping your settlement happy, a few gym equipment can help with that. Add a few Weight Benches and Pommel Horses. If you played the Vault 88 DLC, you will even have access to the Power Cycle 1000, which generates four electricity if you assign a settler to it.

3. Utilizing Display Items

There are some containers that actually display what you store in them such as Magazine Racks and Armor Racks. With the former, all you have to do is store the collectible magazines in it and it will automatically display them. The latter will also show the armor or clothes you store, but you will have to equip it first.

4. A Museum for Rare Finds

As you traverse through the wasteland, you find locations that have hidden collectible items that you might want to put on display. In Jamaica Plain, for instance, there are items like the Championship Bowling Ball or the 2076 World Series Baseball items. Place them in a Display Case so they can remain unbothered.

5. A Greenhouse for Food

Depending on the settlement you're building on, you might find that the land area is scarce or uneven, making it difficult to plant crops for food. You can build a greenhouse with several floors and then add garden plots, which you can find under Miscellaneous in Resources. The number you can plant will depend on the kind of crop.

6. Completing the Pool Table

If you noticed, there's a pool table under Tables but is pretty bare once you place it. You can actually find items you can fill it with around the Commonwealth. But, it'll be easier to collect them all from Cabot House. It will have all the pool balls, a rack, and a pool cue. Just finish the Cabot storyline first and all the items there are free to take.

7. Use a Deathclaw for Defense

You can capture all sorts of monsters and creatures, including Deathclaws, Super Mutants, Raiders, Brahmins, and more. With hostile creatures, you can use them for defense by pacifying them with the Beta Wave Emitter, although you will need the Animal Friend and Wasteland Whisperer perks for that. A Deathclaw provides ten defense points.
