Capcom is Working on Developing Remakes for Resident Evil 0, Code: Veronica

Capcom is reportedly working on the remake of Resident Evil 0 and Code: Veronica amid recent rumors surrounding the development of a Resident 1 remake.

Resident Evil 0 is the prequel that covers the story of the S.T.A.R.S Bravo team while Code Veronica is a spin-off sequel from Resident Evil 2 that focuses on Claire Redfield.

Popular Game Leaker Reveals Resident Evil Plans

In an X post, popular game leaker Dusk Golem revealed that Capcom is currently prioritizing the development of Resident Evil Zero and Code: Veronica remakes. This new rumor dispelled the previous reports surrounding the Resident Evil 1 remake.

"I've talked to many others behind the scenes about this at this point, it's something I heard over a year ago, think it was going to get out whether I was the one to say it or not, & that's about it," he added.

He also clarified that there Resident Evil 1 and Resident Evil 5 are not actively in development. Meanwhile, the release of Resident Evil 9 is pushed back to late 2025 to 2026.

Resident Evil Works on Remakes, Continues Legacy Franchise

Resident Evil Zero was first released in 2002 for Nintendo GameCube. The game was eventually remastered for an HD version in 2016. Many fans appreciated the prequel narrative that focused on the story of Rebecca Chambers.

Meanwhile, Resident Evil - Code: Veronica was released in 2000 for the Sega Dreamcast. The game follows the story of Claire Redfield and her search for his brother. The gameplay is set in the aftermath of the events in Raccoon City.

Both games were equally popular during their time and have contributed to the popularity of the franchise. Many fans have also been waiting for a remake that will allow them to play using the latest consoles.

As of writing, Capcom has yet to announce and confirm its plans with the Resident Evil franchise.
