God of War Ragnarok is Getting a PC Port, But You Won’t Like the Requirement

PlayStation State of Play dropped a lot of good news not only for PS5 users but also for PC players as another PS title exits exclusivity. It took two years but God of War Ragnarok is finally getting a PC port. Unfortunately, it follows the footsteps of Ghost of Tsushima with certain requirements needed.

God of War Ragnarok's PSN Requirement

After all the backlash that came Sony's way, it is standing its ground on PS exclusives coming to PC requiring a PlayStation Network account. That could mean that several countries where PSN is not available will not be getting the PC release.

It's sad to hear given that PC players in non-PSN countries are already missing out on another title they have been waiting for. In case you don't know, a PSN account is required by PlayStation players for online gameplay.

God of War Ragnarok does not require an online connection aside from downloading and installing it, so it's unclear why Sony is adamant about requiring a PSN account. Regardless, players will have to find other ways to create an account is the network is not available in their country.

There's still a chance that Sony would reverse the requirement, seeing as players of Helldivers 2 got the video game giant to do so after review-bombing the game on Steam. However, it's important to note that Helldivers 2 was not a PS exclusive.

God of War Ragnarok PC Port

If you are among the lucky ones who already have a PSN account or can create one, you might be happy to hear about the improvement on the PC version of the game. For starters, the framerates will now be unlocked, so you can opt for true 4K resolution if you choose to.

With the full integration with NVIDIA RTX Deep Learning Super Sampling, AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution, and Intel XeSS, you will be able to upscale the game to reach higher graphical settings and output resolutions than a console would allow.

If you have a wider or several monitors, you can change the setting and set it to ultra-widescreen mode to see the Nine Realms in a wider view. God of War Ragnarok PC version comes with support that allows for 21:9 ultra-widescreen and 32:9 super ultra-widescreen.

You won't have to wait for the DLC as well as the package already includes God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla, along with a New Game+ mode where you can start over with all the armor you have already acquired by finishing the game.

As per the blog post, you can get free cosmetic items such as the Kratos Risen Snow Armor and the Atreus Risen Snow Tunic if you pre-purchase the game on Steam or Epic Store before its release date on September 19th. That goes for the Standard and Deluxe Edition.

For now, the system requirements for the PC port have yet to be announced, although Sony mentioned that it will be revealed a bit closer to the release date. Given the game's graphics and world size, one can already expect it to be demanding.
