'God Of War 4' Release Date Revealed; Game To Feature New Protagonist, Gods?

"God of War" is among the few video game franchises that gamers have loved since its release; hence, many have been eagerly waiting for Sony to finally unleash "God of War 4," the fourth installment in the series. Rumor has it that the company might release the said game in either 2017 or 2018. And while it may seem far from being a reality, most fans believe that the latest installment will include new adventures and different myth.

Kratos, the protagonist in the game, is without a doubt one of the many iconic characters in the gaming world. Of course, fans would love the idea of "God of War 4" introducing a brand new Kratos, but it seems the highly anticipated game is going to involve a new face -- a new protagonist to be exact -- who is satisfyingly enough to stir more sequels and spin-offs.

Moreover, as reported by Cross Map, Sony is said to have gotten in touch with 50 developers to help in "God of War 4" development. The game, which is rumored for a release in 2017 or 2018, is still a long way to go, but it is definitely interesting to see where Sony will take the latest installment in the titular (Greek) mythology-based action-adventure video game.

There have been talks about Daxter and Jak joining the game, but early reports suggest that they are unlikely to happen. However, there is every possibility of Sony adding a handful of Norse gods, namely, Thor, Loki, Odin and a few more.

Yibada, on the other hand, reports that fans of "God of War 4" have been clamoring about Kratos setting his foot on Egypt to make epic battles with Egyptian gods. While some surely loved the idea, there are those who believe that the Greek mythology arc still has plenty of angles to offer. After all, it is the reason behind the game's massive success.

While "God of War 4" remains in the chamber of unknown, Sony certainly has a lot of work to do -- from working out the game's entire story to finally unveiling a release date.
