Sony Xperia X Compact Release Date, Specs, Updates: Now Available For Pre-orders Via Amazon

Sony enthusiasts have been eager to find the latest updates on the Sony Xperia X Compact since its launch was announced on Sept. 1. But their wait will soon be over as the biggest shopping website, Amazon, has now started taking pre-orders for Sony's newest flagship phone.

The newest addition to the Xperia line-up of Sony started to capture global interest when its existence was confirmed last Sept.1 during the IFA 2016 in Berlin. However, it was also said that the Xperia X Compact is yet to hit the U.S. market later this month, specifically on Sept. 25. As many consumers were seen hungry of Sony's well-known Triluminos technology on the Xperia X Compact, Amazon cut-short the wait as it opened pre-ordering options for the smartphone Sunday.

Mobile phone users who are up for a smaller phone have reportedly been having a hard time hunting for a capable unit for the last few years. But Sony has answered the needs of these consumers as the specs of the Xperia X Compact surprised shoppers with its solid build incorporated with good specs and a screen size under five inches. While Sony phones aren't always easy to find in any given market, those in the U.S. can now put down some cash as the American unlocked model comes to Amazon earlier.

Amazon started taking pre-orders for the Xperia X Compact with a standard retail price of $499.99 for the black, white, and light blue unit color options. Moreover, the shopping site attracted more consumers with its offer of $50 of Amazon credit when a pre-order is made. The retailer says the credit will be applied directly upon payment, making the actual price of the pre-ordered Xperia X Compact $449.99 (plus any taxes and shipping). The Xperia X Compact will be sent out Sunday, Sept. 25, says Amazon.

The Sony Xperia X Compact is said to work on AT&T, T-Mobile, and any other GSM carrier. The Xperia X Compact specs include a 4.6" 720p screen, a Snapdragon 650 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage plus a MicroSD card slot, a 23MP rear camera, and a USB Type-C port. The phone's battery capacity is a little small at 2700mAh, following the phone's small dimension at 129 x 65 x 9.5mm. The Xperia X Compact runs on an Android 6.0 Marshmallow at launch, and the phone was recently added to Sony's Open Device Program for easy bootloader unlocks and drivers.
