The multi-talented Korean artist Jung Joon Young, who was recently involved in a sexual scandal, has decided to take a break and is reportedly flying out of Korea. The "2 Days & 1 Night" star is said to take a time off and work on his music in France after his personal and professional life was gravely affected by the aftermath of previous controversies.
It can be recalled that Jung Joon Young was sued by his ex-girlfriend last month for a sexual assault case. Following the embarrassment was his current projects dropping contracts with the singer-actor, including his reality show "2 Days & 1 Night" and drama series "Mr. Baek: The Homemade Food Master."
After the series of unfortunate events, reports claim that the actor will spend some time in France after he was acquitted by the Seoul Eastern Prosecutors Office from all the charges filed against him. Jung Joon Young's agency, C9 Entertainment, previously issued a statement that the accusations were based on some misunderstanding, leading to his ex-girlfriend to withdraw the case.
"Jung Joon Young is going to France this week to work on music," an unnamed source said, as reported by Soompi. "He is not yet thinking about a return to TV broadcasts," the source added.
The controversy has supposedly brought a lot of strain on the actor's professional life, with his career being deeply damaged. Reports say he was asked to step down from his major TV shows and was also taken out from his band. Jung Joon Young, after leaving his KBS reality-variety show "2 Days & 1 Night," has also been edited out of the reality-documentary show in SBS, "Law of the Jungle."
"The footage of Jung Joon Young in the South Pacific season of 'Law of the Jungle,' which is set to air in early November, was already filmed before he was charged on September 23," SBS said in its official statement regarding Jung Joon Young's termination from the show.
Meanwhile, the production team of "2 Days & 1 Night" said that they had to let go of Jung Joon Young to spare the show from any controversy. But despite this decision, the actor's co-cast showed their support and expressed their compassion for him on-air during the show's Oct. 9 episode.
The remaining cast addressed Jung Joon Young's fans saying, "As much as it must have been a shocking incident for everyone, we will do our very best to provide wholesome laughter." The stars even teased Kim Joon Ho for shaving his head as a sign of his support for Jung Joon Young in his current situation. Emotions then came down when the show shared a chocolate cake and Kim Joon Ho reserved a slice for Jung Joon Young which he said he will deliver personally later to the actor.
Clearly, the show's stars were also affected by the scandal with Kim Joon Ho saying, "I miss your teasing. You were the only one who treated me like that."
