Nokia CEO Confirms More Smartphones On The Way: Lumia 928?

Nokia is one of the leading smartphone makers globally and the Finnish company is steadily making inroads into the smartphone space with its lineup of Windows Phone 8 (WP8)-powered Lumia smartphones. Nokia's CEO indicates in an interview that there are more smartphones in the pipeline that will make their way to consumers soon.

Stephen Elop, CEO of Nokia, said in an interview that the company has a portfolio of beautiful smartphones and "some of the beautiful phones still ahead we're so excited about."

"You'll see so much more ahead so we're very excited about what you will see in those products, there's certain things that make Nokia products stand out. Beautiful design is one example. Great photography is another, so you're going to see those things exaggerated and taken to higher and higher levels as we go further," said Elop.

Nokia released its first lot of WP8 smartphones, which included the Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 in November 2012. Since then, the flagship smartphone Lumia 920 has become one of the most popular WP8 smartphones around. Nokia also launched a few affordable WP8 smartphones to penetrate into the entry- to mid-level market segment.

Many rumors are circling that Nokia is on track to launch a new WP8 flagship for 2013, which is rumored to be called the Lumia 928 and will be headed to U.S. carrier Verizon. When Elop was asked about the Lumia 928 he said "I don't know because we haven't announced the Lumia 928."

However, Elop said "Now we're starting with a brand new set of products, we're starting with low numbers but I like that Q4 was more than Q3 and I want to keep growing that and taking that to a higher and higher amount."

With the success of Lumia 920, many smartphone users are anticipating the launch of the rumored Lumia 928.
