Grand Theft Auto VI Gets a More Specific Release Window for 2025

Of all the games that are set to release in 2025, GTA VI is arguably the most anticipated title that players cannot wait to try out. What was once a vague release window for the Rockstar Games video game has now been narrowed down.

GTA VI Might Arrive in the Latter Half of 2025

When the window for the release was still just the year 2025, fans of the Grand Theft Auto franchise were hoping that it would at least be in the first half of the year, but it looks like it would be later rather than sooner with the latest announcement Take-Two Interactive.

In the video game giant's earnings report for the fourth quarter of this year, Take-Two said as it enters fiscal 2025 with positive momentum, the company expects to deliver net bookings of up to $5.65 billion considering the release of GTA VI, as per The Verge.

"Our outlook reflects a narrowing of Rockstar Games' previously established window of Calendar 2025 to Fall of Calendar 2025 for Grand Theft Auto VI," the video game company stated. "We are highly confident that Rockstar Games will deliver an unparalleled entertainment experience."

For those who cannot wait to play the game, the release unfortunately falls between September to November 2025, which means that the wait is still more than a year for us. Still, players know better than to rush the release of a game.

In the meantime, fans can kill time playing GTA V, which appears to still be selling well despite being released a little over a decade ago. Take-Two Interactive revealed the latest GTA release has reached 200 million sales, which is an impressive achievement for an AAA game.

That makes the game the second-best-selling title of all time. The game with the highest number of sales has yet to be beaten. Minecraft still holds the record at 300 million sales, but perhaps it will be dethroned in a couple of years with GTA VI.

Take-Two Interactive Canceled Video Game Projects

As the development of one of Take-Two Interactive's biggest releases is going well, some titles did not survive the company's cost-cutting efforts. Several titles have been canceled, all of which were said to be worth between $120 million to $140 million.

The affected video games were said to have already begun development. Sadly, that's not the end of the measures that the company is taking. Take-Two is laying off 5% of its staff as well, which is around 11,000 employees, as reported by Kotaku

Take-Two's announcement comes as the company's CEO Strauss Zelnick said a few weeks prior that they have "no current plans" to lay off staffers. The impacted will be getting a severance package as the company allotted $25 million to $35 million for it.

This could be the video game giant's way of making up for the costs of an upcoming acquisition, as the company is reportedly planning to purchase Gearbox Entertainment. In case you don't know, Gearbox is the creator of the looter shooter franchise, Borderlands
