Apple is reportedly testing an easier way for iPhone batteries to be replaceable amid the recent proposal in the European Union.
Under the guidelines, "portable batteries" used across Apple devices must be easily removed and replaced by users.

Apple to Improve Battery Replacement Process With EU Rule
Replacing an iPhone battery requires a user to use tweezers to remove the part due to the adhesive strips. The new battery must be pressed using a "specialized machine and tray" to be installed properly.
According to the report, the tech giant is exploring an "electrically induced adhesive debonding" technology to improve and simplify its battery replacement procedure. The new way will involve encasing the battery in metal instead of foil, allowing the user to dislodge the battery.
The new bonding technology could start within the iPhone 16 lineup this year and is expected to be part of the future models.
Regardless, Apple still strongly advised consumers to visit a professional to replace their battery, instead of doing it themselves to prevent any damage.
Apple Plans Enhanced Support for Third-Party Displays, Batteries
Most Apple customers choose third-party displays and batteries during repairs which often cause problems with True Tone. Apple announced that it will soon allow consumers to navigate True Tone even with third-party parts to offer the best display performance.
Third-party batteries which cannot be verified by Apple do not display the maximum capacity and cycle count. Consumers will soon receive battery health metrics with a notification explaining that Apple cannot verify the information.
Apple has yet to announce the official release date of this update. It will likely start appearing with iOS 18 updates later this year.
