Activision to Reward Players for Promoting Games, New Patent Reveals

Activision filed a patent that could potentially reward players by promoting the publisher's games to other communities and audiences.

These patents often hint at the company's plans to improve its services but some concepts would never be released despite being filed.

Activision Wants Other Players to Promote Their Games

The Activision patent, which was originally filed in July 2023, is intended to reward players based on sharing their plays and streaming their gameplay to others. The idea of the system is to encourage other players to play the same games.

The new patent called "Video Game Group Dynamic Building" is an outlined internet-based monitoring system for gamers who actively spend time on Call of Duty and Call of Duty: Warzone. The patent was officially published last June 13 on the Patentscope database.

Rewards will hopefully encourage players to share strategies and gameplay patterns among the community. In addition, it will also help streamers engage more with their audience.

Activision Hopes to Expand Gaming Reach With Reward System

The reward system aims to be beneficial to both streamers and their audiences. For instance, a popular player who streams a certain gaming event could qualify for rewards for both the creator and his viewers.

Activision plans to expand the existing reach of its game titles by allowing players to promote the game for them. The idea is quite similar to Twitch Drops that was launched on Overwatch 2 recently.

Microsoft and Activision have yet to share if there are actions taken to materialize the patent on an existing game. Regardless, the initiative could spark a positive reception within the gaming community.
