The 2014 Jaguar F-Type has already sold out

That didn't take long. According to media reports, the 2014 Jaguar F-Type is already sold out through the end of 2013. While early reviews of the F-Type were fairly positive, the sales figures are truly phenomenal given the car's hefty price tag.

The sports car comes in three variations. The base model starts at $69,000; the F-Type S is $81,000 and the F-Type V8 S begins at $92,000.

"Half of the first year's production of the F-Type is already sold," Jaguar global brand director Adrian Hallmark told Automotive News. According to Hallmark, customers who order an F-type now will be lucky to have it shipped out by year's end.

As a specs refresher, the base model 2014 Jaguar F-Type as well as the F-Type S has a supercharged 3-liter V6 engine. The base model pumps out 340 horsepower and 332 lb.-ft of torque, while the F-Type S produces 380 horsepower and 339 lb.-ft of torque. The F-Type V8 S has a supercharged V8 5-liter engine that generates 495 horsepower and 495 lb.-ft of torque. The base model has a top speed of 161 mph, while the F-Type S can push 171 mph. The F-Type V8 S can hit 186 mph.

The 2014 Jaguar F-Type has an eight-speed automatic transmission with no option for a manual, which certainly doesn't add to its credentials as a racecar. Nonetheless, the transmission did not appear to deter owners from heading over to a dealership and snatching up a new F-Type. Additionally, it's likely that a manual transmission could eventually be offered as an option.

There is also no coupe option for the 2014 F-Type - only a convertible is available. The company has not indicated whether it intends to offer a roof in the future.

According to Automotive News, Jaguar will produce about 60,000 units for the 2014 model year and 15 to 20 percent of sales are expected to be derived from the F-Type. The primary markets Jaguar is targeting are the U.S. U.K. and Germany and the company believes that as many as 90 percent of F-Type owners will be new to Jaguar.
