The saga that started more than 40 years ago has come to an end. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will be released in theatres by Walt Disney Pictures on December 20. Third installment in the Star Wars sequel trilogy that includes 2015's "The Force Awakens" and 2017's "The Last Jedi," "The Rise of Skywalker" showcases the final battle between the Resistance and the First Order - an event that will give the story a meaningful ending, as told by The Rise of Skywalker director J.J. Abrams in Entertainment Weekly.
"Endings are the thing that scare me the most," says Abrams. "We went into this thing knowing it has to be an ending. We're not screwing around." He then reveals that this last installment aims to give an ending that answers as many questions as possible and hopefully give a satisfying, cohesive ending for the story of all the nine films.
