Sony is getting ready to launch a new smartphone going by the codename Honami. The smartphone is expected to be the Xperia i1 and its system dump has just leaked, revealing its new user interface, imaging specs, and more.
The smartphone's system dump has leaked and we now know that Sony plans on launching the smartphone with a new user interface. The leaked screenshots reveal the Xperia i1's new user interface; which includes an updated launcher, new app drawer, and some new and updated applications. The Walkman app has been updated and will now include support for the company's Music Unlimited streaming service. Sony has also included a new virtual keyboard along with an updated version of its Notes application. There's an updated version of Small Apps, which allows a user to run multiple apps on the screen at the same time.
The device's build.prop file confirms some of the hardware - a 20-megapixel camera with the ability to record 4k video and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. Sony is a company known for its cameras and it has created a new camera API that will allow users to add new functions to the Xperia i1's camera app through a new feature called "Xperia camera add-ons". The leaked file reveals the camera will be able to capture 20 megapixel photos with resolutions of 5248 x 3936 and will be able to record video at 4k with resolutions of 4000 x 2000 with an aspect ratio of 2:1. The camera also includes ISO support up to 12800 and Steadyshot mode.
The camera application will include some new camera modes; Bokeh, Indo-eye, Manual, Socialcast, Timeshift, and Effect modes. The leaked images also reveal a new Augmented Reality app that can be used with the smartphone's camera and will include a handful of Augmented Reality modes for the user to choose from.
There is no official word on when we might see this smartphone launched, but the company is holding a smartphone event on July 4 in Paris and, per rumors, it will announce the Xperia i1 at the event.
