We have already seen a few top-end Sony smartphones making their way to shelves in this year. The entry-level Xperia M is now up for sale on UK retailer Clove.
At the launch of the Xperia M, Calum MacDougall, Director of Xperia Marketing at Sony Mobile Communications said (via PhoneArena) "Consumers looking for their first steps into the world of Xperia smartphones, would be well-advised to look at Xperia M or Xperia Mdual. Both models benefit from Sony's proven innovation and engineering expertise, and are perfect for those who want the premium technology and experiences often only associated with high-end models."
The smartphone space is getting crowded with handsets at that cater to all ranges and preferences. Sony is also getting very competitive with the launch of an array of handsets. At the beginning of the year, Sony launched the Xperia Z and the Xperia ZL. Now recently, the company has also launched the Xperia Z Ultra phablet. However, not everyone wants to buy a high-end phone and the latest Xperia M may attract customers looking out for an entry-level handset with basic smartphone features.
The Sony Xperia M packs in a 4-inch TFT display with 480 x 854 pixels resolution and 245 pixels-per-inch (ppi). A 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor powers the handset.
The handset includes 1GB or RAM and 4GB of on-board storage with the option to expand to a further 32GB using a microSD card. The Xperia M is equipped with a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 0.3-megapixel front facing camera.
The latest Xperia M measures 4.88 x 2.44 x 0.37 inches and weighs 4.37 ounces.
Sony has launched the Xperia M in black, white, purple and yellow color options but Clove has advertised the handset in only black and white colors with a price tag of £194.99.
