Slack is not the only down, but it also appears that GitHub has been down. On top of that, Peloton users might be exercising with themselves since the Peleton outage is also reported.

Since 9:00 a.m. ET on Tuesday, Feb. 22, Slack, the business messaging app that has become a staple for many employees to communicate with one another in real-time and has been unavailable for some users.

Slack Down

Several users reported problems with the company's internal communication platform as the workday officially began.

In accordance with Downdetector's outage map, the majority of issues were reported in the northeastern part of the country. Users across the United States are experiencing difficulties logging into their accounts, including in New York City, Boston, Washington D.C., Dallas, and Atlanta.

As reported by Newsweek, the U.S. isn't the only country affected by the Slack outage. Users from multiple countries also took to social media and complained about their Slack being down.

Similar countries experiencing the Slack outage are Pakistan, Serbia, Canada, Japan, Sweden, Brazil, and more.

The official Twitter account of Slack stated: "Some customers may be experiencing issues with loading Slack. We'll provide a status update once we have more information. We're sorry for the disruption."

According to the recent update of Slack Status official website, Slack recommended the following to their users "we're continuing to see improvements, but we still have some work to do. If you're still encountering any trouble, please reload Slack using Command + Shift + R (Mac) or Ctrl + Shift + R (Windows/Linux) or clear the app cache."

GitHub Down

In the same way that remote workers are coming to terms with the fact that they will no longer have Slack beeping away at them, it appears that Github is also down. Github is an Internet hosting provider for software development, a service used by app developers as a repository for code and other resources.

However, with GitHub, some users' complaints aren't so severe and widespread. Some users reported they experience it is down, while other users can access it. However, as of writing this, GitHub systems are all fully functional.

Peloton Outage

As reported by The Verge, Peloton is also experiencing problems. Users began reporting Peloton outages at around 10 a.m. ET. According to the company's status page on the internet, users appear to be unable to access logins, live classes, on-demand classes, leaderboards, or activate services on Peloton bikes and treadmills.

The company stated on Twitter that this might also have an impact on users' ability to access Peloton's websites.

As reported, it looks like the member profile/workout history page is the only part of the Peloton website that is experiencing a major outage.

Is AWS Causing The Problem?

With numerous sites reporting an outage, people are speculating that there is a problem with Amazon's Web Services.

According to iMore, the service status page did not indicate any issues with the service. However, given that AWS is responsible for a significant portion of the internet and its services, it is highly likely that a problem on Amazon's end will have an impact on downstream apps and services.

Especially in a world where people are working from home more than ever, Slack has established itself as a must-have tool, and its demise could have serious consequences for many businesses and their employees.

As of the moment, Slack tweeted they have fully resolved the issue and encourage users to follow the instructions given to resolve it on their end.
