iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max Leak: Apple’s A16 Chipset Release Will Be Limited

The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max will be released with an A16 chipset.

Apple is rumored to be releasing the iPhone 14 this year by fall. With that, leaks about the iPhone 14 have spread all over the internet.

One leak reveals that the lineup will have both A15 and A16 chipsets.

iPhone 14 A16 chip

The iPhone 14 lineup is speculated by many to be released in this year's fall. In addition, iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max are rumored to be the only models designed to be carrying the all-new Apple A16 chip.

On the other hand, Apple rumors hint that the iPhone 14 and 14 Max will still have the A15 chipset, the same A15 chipset the iPhone 13 is carrying.

This rumor came to existence with the Tweet of Ming-Chi Kuo, a reputable Apple spectator. Ming-Chi Kuo has a long track record of being accurate in his predictions.

With 9to5Mac's independent sources, they added that they have received the same information as what Kuo is stating. This piece of information shows that Apple is working on two new iPhone 14 models with A16 processors and two iPhone 14 models with A15 processors, which is consistent with what Kuo has stated today.

The new iPhone 14 lineup might veer away from the usual with this year's release.

For example, the iPhone 13 Pro has an A15 chip that has more RAM and GPU cores than the A15 chip found in the iPhone 13. The A15 chip found in the iPhone 13 has fewer GPU cores and less RAM.

According to The Verge, iPhone 14 would be in a 6.1-inch display and the iPhone 14 Max will be in a 6.7-inch display. They will both be powered by the A15 chip.

Both Pro and Pro Max are also expected to be the higher-end models of Apple's iPhone. With that, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models will likely be more expensive since they will be carrying the new A16 chip.

Apple enthusiasts are for sure familiar with these chip differentiation strategies by the company since it has been employed before. This strategy has been implemented in the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c. In 2013, the iPhone 5S got the A7 chipset while Apple released the iPhone 5C with an A6 chip at a cheaper price.

iPhone 14: Design and RAM

The iPhone 14 lineup this year, according to Kuo, will have 6GB of RAM.

However, the higher-end iPhone models will feature an upgraded LPDDR5 memory while the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro will still have the LPDDR 4X memory, the same memory found in the iPhone 13.

As a result, this means that the iPhone 14 lineup will only be available in two screen sizes this fall: 6.1 inches and 6.7 inches.

As reported by 9to5Mac, if Ming-Chi Kuo's latest leak holds true, Apple might be differentiating the iPhone models solely on the basis of specifications such as the 120Hz ProMotion display, camera specifications, and possibly the performance of the CPU and GPU inside.

iPhone 14 rumors have tremendously surfaced on the internet nowadays. What comes as a surprise with the rumor is that Apple will most likely release iPhone models with larger screens at a lower-end price point this 2022.

This means that for the first time ever, the company will offer a 6.7-inch 'Max' screen size that is not a Pro. Although unfortunately, this means bidding goodbye to the 5.4-inch screen size of the iPhone mini, which has already been phased out of production.
