After a first leaked image of the purported BlackBerry A10 recently showed the front of the smartphone, a new leak now reveals the back case with AT&T branding.
BlackBerry has been having a rough time lately. It recently reported dismal earnings and revealed that sales of the BlackBerry Z10 and Q10 were not anywhere near what analysts and the company claimed.
On Friday, July 12, AT&T, Verizon, and Best Buy slashed the price of the Z10 from $199 to $49. That same day also saw the leak of the smartphone that is expected to replace the Z10 and become the company's next flagship smartphone.
We reported on the leaked image and specs of the BlackBerry A10, which is going by the codename 'Aristo'. The smartphone is expected to be released in the fall and new images of the handset's back case have just leaked.
The images popped up in an online forum and show that the company plans on using a soft-touch back case for the A10, which looks very similar to the case found on the QWERTY equipped Q10. More importantly, the images reveal AT&T's logo stamped on the case, which means the smartphone will be headed to at least AT&T in the U.S. when it makes its debut. The upcoming smartphone and slow sales of existing BlackBerry 10 (BB10) models could also be part of the reason the carrier cut the price of the Z10, as it needs to get rid of inventory to make room for its successor.
The BlackBerry A10 will be the company's largest smartphone to be released and will reportedly include a 5-inch 1280 x 720 Super AMOLED display. The smartphone will be powered by a dual-core processor and will also include another first for BlackBerry - a separate graphics chip. It will include 2GB of RAM and the company is supposedly designing this smartphone for gamers and power users. The new images also match the previously leaked image and show a more rounded design when compared to the Z10. The smartphone will also run a new version of BB10, with its software release being listed as version 10.2.0.552.
As previously noted, the A10 is expected to be released in the fall and apparently AT&T will be giving a BlackBerry 10 smartphone another shot on its network.
