Nintendo releases a new feature, a folder-like system implemented in the UI of the Nintendo Switch. This folder-like system is known as "Groups."
Nintendo Switch Groups
Nintendo Switch recently released a newly added feature that most players have been waiting to have. Five years after its launch, Nintendo has created a folder-style function in their operating systems.
On Monday, Nintendo released a new system update that allows users to create groups of software to help organize their Switch libraries.
According to Nintendo, this folder-like library is available as part of system firmware version 14.0, which is currently available for download from the company's website. The new feature in Nintendo Switch UI is called "groups."
As reported by The Verge, Groups does not function exactly just like how folders function in the desktop, laptop, or mobile devices.
Users will not be able to place anything on the home screen using the Groups. It will group or organize a user's favorite games in a list, although it will not be available in the home screen. Instead, users can use this feature to curate their games.
Users can easily access this feature, users must scroll all the way to the right of their screen until they reach the vertical list of all their software and then press L. This allows users to access or create groups of games from a variety of sources.
Nintendo's group can be accessible in the Menu, users should click All Software. This feature will be visible to users who have more than 12 games on their Nintendo.
Nintendo's new Groups feature is available through the Switch's "All Software" menu, which is visible when a user has more than 12 games on their system. Users will have the ability to create 100 groups in their Switch; each group is capable of storing up to 200 titles.
Nintendo Switch announced this feature on Twitter with an example on the tweet they uploaded. In the tweet below, users can see examples of these folders labeled Mario Games, Zelda Games, Favorites, Old School, Pokemon, and Online Games.
