Sharing YouTube Videos on Snapchat Now Made Easier — No More Copy Pasting Required!

Snap just made sharing YouTube videos on its Snapchat platform easier.

The social media company recently revealed that all Snapchatters on iOS and Android devices can now share YouTube videos with friends directly through the Snapchat Camera.

This update means that Snapchatters will no longer need to copy and paste links to share YouTube videos on Snapchat.

Snapchat-YouTube Integration Details

According to Snap's announcement, the new feature is the first time YouTube links can be shared visually to Snapchat Stories and one-on-one Snaps while still having full access to Snapchat Camera's creative Tools for self-expression.

"At Snap, we believe in the power of visual communication, and with this partnership, we're giving our community infinite ways to express themselves, share what they're watching, and layer on their own creative takes," Snap said.

To use the new feature, Snapchat users should open a YouTube video using the YouTube app and then tap "Share" and the Snapchat icon. Doing so will send users to the Snapchat Camera, which users can use to create an original Snap with the automated YouTube sticker and layer on using any of the app's creative tools.

The YouTube sticker on a user's Snap, which also displays the video's thumbnail, can be used by friends, who can tap the sticker to view the video shared on the YouTube app or their mobile browser.

The new feature makes things easier for Snapchat users to react to the YouTube video of their choosing, XDA Developers said in its article. It would also help users get an idea of what the video is about before clicking it.

Additionally, the new feature should be available to all iOS and Android phone users using the latest version of the app. Should it fail to appear after updating it, users should try force quitting the app or reinstalling it.

Android Police noted that the integration opens up "a whole new world of possibilities" for content sharing and an increase in viewership on both platforms.

Previously, Snapchat users must copy and paste a YouTube video link to attach it to their Snaps. Alphr's article showed that the old method of linking a YouTube video had eight steps, as opposed to the new one's three (four if the friend's side is included).

Snapchat Drones in the Future

Snap was reported to have mentioned in 2017 that it is interested in acquiring Zero Zero Robotics to help users take their media output "to the next level."

While the social media company did not confirm its interest in Zero Zero Robotic's acquisition, XDA Developers did discover some new, back-end code in the Snapchat app that refers to a new functionality called "Cheerio."

Cheerio is believed to be Snap's preparation for a coming Snap drone integration or a drone, per XDA Developers' report.

Snap was also reported to have renewed plans to develop a selfie drone last year, but there has been no word about Snap's intentions on a selfie drone since.
