Nokia Lumia 625 to release this quarter for $320

Nokia's yet-to-be announced mid-range Lumia 625 is creating quite a bit of excitement of late. Close on the heels of news that the WP8-powered smartphone would release in China this month, a new report reaffirms the same and discloses that the Lumia 625 will be arriving this quarter sporting a $320 price tag.

The latest information is courtesy of DigiTimes, which sites reliable sources "at Nokia's supply chain."

"With regard to smartphone, Nokia is scheduled to launch a new Windows 8-based model, the Lumia 625, in the third quarter of 2013 after just unveiling its top-end Lumia 1020, indicated the sources," reports DigiTimes.

Apparently, the Lumia 625 has be outsourced to Compal Communications and DigiTimes' sources are of the opinion that Nokia will likely release "more orders for feature phones to ODMs since the company's CEO Elop has revealed that its mobile phones business unit is planning to take actions to focus its product offering and improve product competitiveness."

The Lumia 625 will allegedly target the mid-range segment and be priced at an attractive $320 per the sources to lure consumers.

Earlier in May, rumors were rife that Nokia would launch the Lumia 625 at the time along with the Lumia 928. The mid-range Lumia 625 is believed to be the follow-up to the popular Lumia 620, which the Finnish company released in Dec. 2012. The affordable smartphone was released in the U.S earlier in May this year, several months after its launch.

Per reports, the Lumia 625 will sport a 4.7-inch WVGA display and have a pixel density of 199 pixels per inch (ppi). The smartphone will likely be LTE-enabled smartphone and come with Windows Phone 8 out of the box.

The impending Nokia smartphone, like all successors, is expected to be a slight improvement on the Lumia 620 and could house a better dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, which is clocked at 1.2GHz.

The smartphone is also speculated to pack in a bigger 2,000 mAh Li-Ion battery, which will offer more standby and talk time than 1,300 mAh battery on the Lumia 620. The handset is also expected to tout a VGA secondary camera and a 5-megapixel primary one.

We recently reported that the Lumia 625 was spotted on TENAA i.e. the Chinese communication regulatory commission. What's more, the smartphone apparently bears a close resemblance to yet another Nokia device with the codename RM-941 that passed through the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) recently. This suggests that Nokia could be gearing up to launch the budget friendly smartphone in the U.S. as well.
