Google made it easier to find the best Chrome extensions as the technology company rolled out new web store badges.

Google announced in a blog post on Wednesday that it released two new extension badges, the Featured badge and the Established Publisher badge, to help them achieve their goal of being "more powerful, useful and customizable for users."

The technology company said that it has always been their mission to make it easy for users to find great extensions while recognizing the publishers who create them.

Both badges are available on the Chrome Web Store since Wednesday.

Featured and Established Publisher Badges Highlight High-Quality Extension

Before the badge is received, the Chrome team members manually evaluate each extension. The Featured badge is assigned to extensions that follow Google's technical best practices and meet the company's higher standard for user experience and design.

Team members at Chrome ensure the "adherence to Chrome Web Store's best practices guidelines, including providing an enjoyable and intuitive experience, using the latest platform APIs and respecting the privacy of end-users."

"A store listing page that is clear and helpful for users, with quality images and a detailed description," is also ensured according to the blog post of Google.

The Established Publisher badge is given to publishers that have verified their identity and have demonstrated compliance with the developer program policies.

Google specified in their blogpost that publishers can't pay Google to get either of these badges, but they can submit a request for review.

Chrome Extensions Add Functionality to Chrome Browser

A chrome extension is a way of adding functionality to the chrome browser, according to Shiffman.net. A user can add interface elements, open and close tabs, interact with the address bar, as well as modify the contents of any page the browser is currently on.

Extensions, which are small software programs, customize the browsing experience. They are built on web technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, and CSS, which enable users to tailor Chrome functionality and behavior to individual needs or preferences.

A custom-built extension can perform a single task. For it to work properly, the task needs to be narrowly defined and easy to understand. As long as everything directs the extension towards a singular goal, a user can include more than one component or functionality.

According to Google, they have been working hard to create extensions that make Chrome more powerful, useful, and customizable for users.

Google developed the cross-platform web browser, Google Chrome. In 2008 it was first released for Microsoft Windows, built with free software components from Apple WebKit and Mozilla Firefox.

Later on, it was ported to Linux, macOS, iOS, and Android, where it is the default browser. Google Chrome is also the main component of Chrome OS, where it serves as the platform for web applications.

Google, on the other hand, is a multinational technology company that focuses on artificial intelligence. It also focused on search engine, online advertising, cloud computing, computer software, quantum computing, e-commerce, and consumer electronics.

Google is considered one of the Big Five American information technology companies, alongside Amazon, Apple, Meta, and Microsoft.
