TikTok users will now have something new to indulge themselves in as more AR-supported effects will come to the platform.
TikTok's augmented reality development platform, called Effect House, will now receive a boost from Camera IQ. This collaboration and strengthened AR capabilities will allow TikTok creators to build better AR-focused effects.
The TikTok Effect House is a platform that allows developers to potentially contribute to TikTok's endeavor to develop augmented reality effects for the app's user interface.
Camera IQ's TikTok Integration
Using Camera IQ's platform, which includes preset templates and 3D tools, creators can develop augmented reality experiences and then share them on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and soon, TikTok.
As TechCrunch reports, Camera IQ stated, "Brands can partner with Camera IQ to build a cross-platform AR strategy by transforming previous AR campaigns into TikTok effects or building new effects."
Additionally, the company said in a statement, "Camera IQ offers hands-on support from its team of experienced account strategists, while delivering real-time analytics and exclusive insights on the performance and virality of a brand's AR effects."
Customers with team and enterprise licenses from Camera IQ will be able to create and publish augmented reality effects to their TikTok brand accounts, giving them the opportunity to generate more engaging content for viewers on the platform as a result of the new launch.
Prior to the public release, Camera IQ collaborated with a number of firms, including Cartoon Network and Smashbox, both of which have introduced augmented reality filters on TikTok. Recently, Cartoon Network sought assistance from the company Camera IQ to create a Garnet Glasses effect based on the glasses worn by Garnet, the Steven Universe character who spoke a viral remark that was being utilized in hundreds of TikTok videos at the time of the effect's creation.
TikTok Effect House
TikTok has long been reported to be working to build its own AR development platform called Effect House. Recently, TikTok's Effect House officially went live two weeks ago.
Despite the fact that creating tools with Effect House may necessitate some technical expertise, the company has put together a comprehensive set of guides that teach users how to use the platform to create specific types of effects such as segmentation, face masks, and head trackers, 3D faces, and more, as well as how to work with different textures, materials, lighting and shadows, and other aspects of the platform.
In addition, the site includes templates, online tutorials, and a Knowledge Lab, where TikTok engineers will demonstrate how to create a certain effect using Effect House.
When TikTok's AR developers see effects created with Effect House, the effects' results page will include the creator's username and a link to their profile, allowing users to learn more about them. Additionally, a designated tab on the creator's profile page allows TikTok users to check all of their published effects in their portfolio.
The platform has been operating in a closed beta. TikTok is now offering beta access to encourage further development.
In addition to Snap and Meta, which already provide a range of tools that allow developers to create AR experiences and effects for their own respective social media platforms, TikTok will now be in direct competition with both of them.
As of today, more than 450 producers have signed up to use TikTok's Effect House. These creators have then gone on to publish their effects on TikTok, where they have been used in 1.5 billion videos, garnering more than 600 billion views worldwide, according to the company.
