Google has finally released the much-awaited Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and its Nexus lineup of devices is already receiving the update, but what about non-Google handsets?
Leaving Nexus devices and Google Edition smartphones aside, we take a look at when to expect the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for some popular smartphones such as the HTC One, Xperia Z, Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 2 and more.
HTC One
With Google confirming that the Google Edition of the HTC One would be getting the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update "soon," it's only natural to wonder when the original, "normal" version of the HTC One will get the software bump as well.
Judging by the response of HTC's Jeff Gordon, it seems that the company is currently "reviewing" the update and it seems unlikely that the Android 4.3 rollout for the smartphone will happen anytime soon.
"We're reviewing Android 4.3 to see how this update fits into our plans," Jeff Gordon, HTC's senior global online communications manager, told TechRadar.
However, notorious tipster @LLabTooFeR is optimistic and, in response to a query regarding the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean rollout for the HTC One, he said on Twitter that the new software version will arrive soon.
"@sreemoytalukdar Yes it will get 4.3 in near future...," @LlabTooFeR concisely noted.
Considering that the leakster has a good track record, there's a good chance that HTC will push out the Android 4.3 software update to its flagship sooner rather than later.
Samsung Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3
Samsung fans are also hoping that the flagship Galaxy S4, as well as the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 get updated to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean soon.
Reports have suggested that Samsung's Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 smartphones will skip the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update and leapfrog directly to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.
Samsung has not given a timeframe for the update's release but disclosed to TechRadar that it will confirm plans later on.
"Samsung UK will confirm upgrade plans to Android 4.3 to selected Galaxy devices in the coming months," the company told TechRadar.
Hopefully, the coming months will not spill over to 2014 and Samsung will push out the software update this year itself.
Sony Xperia Z and Xperia ZL
Sony is the first manufacturer to offer the list of devices that will get the latest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update in the future.
"Yesterday you probably saw Google announce the next version of Jelly Bean (Android 4.3). We're already getting stuck in and can confirm we'll make 4.3 available for: Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia SP and Xperia Z Ultra," revealed Sony via a statement.
Sony's statement would suggest that it is already working towards the update and will roll it out soon.
Even though Sony hasn't given a release date, the Japanese company is known to keep its word (remember the Android 4.2 promise?) and will likely push out the update in a few months.
