Netflix Kids is rolling out a new feature for every child to enjoy: the Netflix Mystery Box.
The streaming giant just released a new feature to help parents, siblings, and caregivers find a new movie or different content for the children they are looking after.
As its name suggests, the Mystery Box on Netflix is a new way for users to learn about new content that is available on the platform.
It's also great in moments when your kid takes so long to choose something to watch. If that happens again, just show them the Mystery Box.
Netflix's Mystery Box
Netflix has high hopes that children will enjoy the element of surprise and enjoyment that comes with learning about the next episode or movie that has been hand-picked for them.
Since every child and every family is different, Netflix developed this Mystery Box feature to develop an interactive and well-suited service for kids to link children with the narratives that help build their world.
As caregivers all know, children sometimes repeat watching a movie they like multiple times and for several days or weeks.
Picking a new program or movie to watch can be a difficult task, particularly when it comes to selecting something appropriate for children, and the company wants to alleviate the burden through the Netflix Mystery Box feature.
To explore this new feature in Netflix Kids, guardians would need to follow these easy steps:
- First, sign in to the Netflix Kids profile created for children.
- Navigate to the homepage of Netflix and look for the 'Favorites Row' at the top. According to Netflix, "This row is character-driven to more easily and vividly connect them with the characters, shows, and films they love as soon as they turn on Netflix."
- Next, to discover the new content for the child, head over to the sparkly section of the 'mystery box' and click it. There lies a new movie or program to discover and enjoy!
It was not made clear whether this new Netflix kids feature is based on what the child wants from previous content they mostly watched or if the recommendations are picked on a Netflix randomizer.
The streaming company stated that the new feature is currently being distributed to all of its TV viewers across the world. This most certainly includes the tvOS software that is available for Apple TV.
As reported by 9to5Mac, Netflix already offers a service that is very similar to this one for adults. That feature will recommend users watch a movie, documentary, or a series based on the content that it thinks a user might enjoy based on their viewing history.
In some situations, clicking "Play Something" can bring up a new movie or show that's similar to what a user has seen before, or it might merely bring up a totally new genre of content.
Netflix Subscription Increase
This year, Netflix has been steadily introducing major alterations to both the platform and the company itself. Netflix just recently implemented a pricing hike for membership subscriptions. The business stated that the membership fees are a way for them to invest in producing a range of quality content for its users.
On top of that, Netflix employees are also under a lot of pressure since the company is deciding to lay off numerous workers and cut down on unnecessary incentives.
Prior to that, just this March, the company implemented stricter measures to prevent its users from password sharing, which has contributed to an enormous loss on their behalf.
iTech Post previously reported that it is estimated that more than 100 million non-paying households watch Netflix in this manner due to the practice of sharing passwords for their accounts.
The corporation continues to reorganize and make adjustments even though its market value is plummeting. In addition, it was also revealed that Netflix would soon start accepting advertisements at a price that is far lower than it was in the past.
