Samsung Galaxy Folder flip phone specs leak

Samsung will be launching a new Galaxy smartphone that will appeal to a specific audience. The Galaxy Folder has been designed with flip phone lovers in mind and its user manual has leaked.

Samsung has never been shy about flooding the market with smartphones that appeal to a specific group. Its current lineup has the Galaxy S4 being the flagship smartphone that appeals to the majority of high-end smartphone users. The Galaxy Note phablets are targeted at consumers who want a larger-screen smartphone that can also be used as a small tablet, complete with a very useful stylus in its S-Pen. The Galaxy Mega series is for those people who want an even larger display than the Note series, topping out at 6.3-inches. The Galaxy S4 Mini, meanwhile, is for people who want a smaller Galaxy S4. The S4 Zoom is an S4 with a better camera and the S4 Active is a rugged variant.

Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Folder, which is currently going by the model number SHV-E400K, will be targeted toward consumers who love old-school flip phones. The smartphone's user manual has leaked and it reveals that it will be a mid-range handset with decent specs. It will have two 3.67-inch AMOLED WVGA (800 x 480) displays - one will be on the outside of the handset and the other will be exposed when the phone is flipped open. The operating system is Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. A 1.7 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor will power the handset. The Galaxy Folder will also include 16GB of internal storage, 2GB of RAM and a 1,820 mAh removable battery. In terms of wireless connectivity there's a 4G LTE radio, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and NFC.

The Galaxy Folder also includes the standard physical dial pad and buttons that all flip phone users are familiar with. The smartphone is expected to go on sale in China in the near future. There is no word on if and when the smartphone will make its way to the U.S.
