LG's Ergo DualUp Monitor Now Available: Here's What You Have to Know

You would probably think of a 24-inch ultra-wide screen that may be curved when you want to get a bigger monitor that would improve your productivity.

Some people boost their productivity by having more screen space, even to the point of having a dual-monitor setup.

LG thinks outside the box with the new screen that it revealed last year. It seems like it is designed for Instagram. But the more you think about it, it makes more sense than its widescreen counterparts

Best of all, you can now buy it, too, several months after it was announced.

The New Monitor of LG is Unconventional

Although some consumers may be too young to remember, we do not forget that the very first computer monitors were shaped like boxes.

In addition, the technologies of those early days require a lot of room for bulky CRT hardware, and computers were also intended more for work than entertainment.

According to Slash Gear, in contrast, the displays we have today are designed specifically around the aspect ratios of videos, which means they're always wider than they are tall. Some even go to extremes with a 21:9 aspect ratio.

However, when you think about it, we do a lot of things on a computer requiring more vertical space than horizontal as documents and web pages flow vertically.

Although larger monitors allow us to put more windows on display at the same time, the amount of content they're able to display is often still the same and is limited by the top and bottom of the screen, said Slash Gear.

With this, LG's tries to reclaim vertical space with its latest ergonomic monitor.

The new monitor was announced in December 2021. The 27.6-inch LG Ergo DualUp is actually the equivalent of two monitors stacked on top of each other.

It resulted in a 16:18 aspect ratio that is very different by today's industry standards.

With 2560x1880 resolution, you have access to the equivalent of two 2560x1440 monitors. This is while saving some horizontal space on your desk.

While this aspect ratio will work wonders for tasks like video editing where most of the tools occupy the bottom half of the app, this may not be great for spreadsheets that span dozens of columns.

LG Says Design is More Ergonomic

According to LG, this design is more ergonomic. It is also reinforced by the company's standard "Ergo" monitor features.

The monitor comes with C-clamp for hoisting the DualUp monitor above your desk. The C-clamps has also the ability to change the monitor's height, tilt, and rotation. This means that if you prefer something that's just a bit wider, you can rotate the display to its side.

Despite its old-school design, the monitor comes with packing standard ports for a modern monitor.

The loadout includes dual HDMI ports, as well as a USB-C port that can provide 90W of power, which is enough to charge a laptop while in use, according to Slash Gear.

It took LG half a year to finally launch this unique computer peripheral, but the Ergo DualUp is finally here and can be yours for only $700.
