Apple’s WWDC 2022 Is Expected To Unveil Tools For AR/VR Headsets

Apple's WWDC 2022 will begin tomorrow, and tech fans are thrilled about what the company is launching next. However, there is one gadget that numerous people have been wanting to know about, the Apple AR/VR headset.

In just a few hours from now, Apple will host its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).

The event is expected to unveil and release software updates. However, it is still unclear what new hardware will be introduced.

There is always the chance that Apple will release updated versions of its already existing items, but what tech enthusiasts are truly hoping for is a totally new product from the company. Although there has been news, rumors, and speculation that Apple will not release its mixed reality headset at tomorrow's event, the news still has not been confirmed.

On the contrary, the news that has been confirmed is the company's focus on improving its augmented reality efforts. Apple plans to release software tools that will enable third-party applications to add new camera and speech capabilities. By doing so, the company will create the basis for a hands-free interface that customers will eventually be able to navigate using the headset.

Apple AR Tools

Apple's CEO, Tim Cook, has been reported multiple times praising the potential for augmented reality to be the next big thing in computing, particularly in comparison to virtual reality. It has already begun incorporating augmented reality technology into its already existing platforms, most notably through the framework of its ARKit product.

Apple is going to release new software and hardware that will prepare the way for the launch of the company's mixed reality headset.

Even though Apple has not yet released its official augmented reality device, developers will be able to create their apps with the features that will enable them to work in augmented reality environments by using this developer kit.

It is believed that these tools will involve the introduction of additional camera and voice features, such as the capability to trigger operations by voice through Siri or by scanning QR codes. This will make it possible to operate such applications hands-free.

As reported by Slash Gear, Apple has recruited well-known directors from Hollywood, one of whom is Jon Favreau, to create video content for a headset that is still rumored to be unveiled tomorrow or released next year. According to the report, Mr. Favreau, who is an executive producer on the Apple TV+ show Prehistoric Planet, is working to bring the show's dinosaurs to life on the headset, which aims to create virtual and augmented reality experiences around the device.

Apple's Release of Mixed Reality Headset

However, it appears as though any possibility that Apple may introduce a new product during the event will not materialize. Apple's rumored augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) headgear have been the topic of various rumors over the course of the last few years. For a brief period, it appeared that Apple could finally unveil the device.

On the other hand, Ming-Chi Kuo, a well-known Apple analyst, recently stated the chance that the company could show off its headset this year in a tweet in which he explained the reasons why the tech company will not do so.

As reported, Apple has been forced to delay the debut of the product until next year due to ongoing problems with the power provided by its battery.

According to The New York Times, the AR device has been met with a lot of resistance within the company. At least two employees of the company's industrial design team have stated that they have left the company, citing some concerns about the possibility of designing a product that could alter the way in which individuals interact with one another as a reason for their departure.

The growing public worry about the amount of time youngsters spend in front of screens has led to heightened sensitivity within the company.
