Ford F-150 Lightning pickup interestingly includes a free adapter, which charges Tesla electric vehicles, saving the latter when their battery range is almost out.
Ford F-150 Lightning Pickup
The all-electric pickup of Ford, its F-150 Lightning, boasts an impressive battery range as the powerful truck needs it to get around rocky terrain with heavy loads anyway.
There's no better way to showcase its extended battery range than to light up a home in case electricity runs out.
As per a news story by InsideEVs, fans of the F-150 Lightning could not help but rave about the quirk of the Ford EV to power a house.
While it needs a bit of equipment to do so, it sure gives us an idea that the battery of the Ford electric pickup should be taken seriously.
On top of its ability to light up a home, Ford also boasts that its electric pickup goes on to charge other EVs.
The giant American automaker markets the F-150 Lightning for its ability to juice up the battery of its other EV offering, the Mustang Mach-E.
It surely suggests that the F-150 Lightning could also replenish the battery of the best-selling EVs from the renowned electric carmaker, Tesla.
Ford F-150 Lightning and Tesla Charging
It is worth noting that charging a Tesla EV through the F-150 Lightning requires an adapter. It comes as the EV maker of Elon Musk uses a proprietary charger, which no other automaker uses.
So, it appears that users of the Ford electric truck need to buy a Tesla adapter if they actually want to charge the competing EV via Lightning.
However, according to the latest report by Electrek, Ford is reportedly shipping its F-150 Lightning with an adapter, which allows its owners to specifically top up the batteries of Tesla vehicles.
The news outlet notes that the deliveries of the new Ford pickup only began in May. As such, tidbits such as the free adapter are only seeing the light of day now.
Free Tesla Adapter?
Thanks to a user on the Lightning Owners forum, we learned about a notable inclusion in the early deliveries of the electric F-150.
Aside from the J1772 charger for the Ford pickup, it seemingly includes an adapter for the proprietary plug of Tesla.
The forum post narrates: "I took delivery of my 2022 Lightning and as I'm going through the included items I found an adapter to charge Teslas."
The J1772 to Tesla adapter is a handy inclusion for the F-150 Lightning, allowing its users to extend a helping hand to stranded Tesla owners.
