iOS 16 debuted during the Apple WWDC 2022 event, skipping devices like iPod Touch and iPhone 6s, among other several years old smartphones.
iOS 16
iOS brings tons of new features and improvements to iPhones every year.
That said, as the year nears its middle part, Apple also dishes out some new exciting offerings for iPhone users.
Apart from the arrival of new fancy features for iPhones, the latest iOS update also ends its support for some of the aging mobile devices of the Cupertino-based tech giant.
iOS 16 Leaves Out iPod Touch
As per a news story by MacRumors, while Apple is introducing new devices and software, it also removes traces of the iconic iPod touch on its website.
The news website reports that the product page of the last iteration of the Apple music player vanished into thin air completely.
The iPod Touch is nowhere to be seen on Apple's website in various locations, including the United Kingdom, the United States, and Australia.
The latest iOS 16 update also skips support for all iPod Touch devices, marking its demise.
iOS 16 Skips Older iPhones
On top of that, according to a recent report by The Verge, aging iPhone devices, such as the iPhone 6s, fail to make it to the list of supported devices of iOS 16.
When compared to other phone makers, Apple is known for its extended support for iPhones.
The Cupertino giant updates its devices even if the phone is already seven years old as the case with the 6S. That's a long run for smartphones these days.
Even though Apple promises extended software support for its iPhones, it sure does have to come to an end too.
Aside from the seven-year-old iPhone, iOS 16 also ends support for its successor, the iPhone 7 series. The first-ever iPhone SE also misses the latest mobile software update from Apple.

iOS Supported iPhones
As per the latest report by XDA Developers, the all-new iOS 16 still supports older offerings like the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. It also includes the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, as well as the iPhone X, and iPhone XR.
What's more, iOS 16 supports more recent devices, such as the iPhone 11 series and the iPhone 12 lineup. The latest Apple flagship, iPhone 13, models also made it.
Not to mention that the second generation iPhone SE up until the latest version still enjoys the new iOS.
