Tesla Model Y reigns in the 2022 American-Made Index by Car.com. Vehicles like the Honda Passport and Lincoln Corsair also enter the Top 10 ranking.
The survey of the automobile online marketplace, Cars.com, says that the Tesla Model Y crossover SUV is the most American-made vehicle.
Tesla Model Y Tops American-Made Index
The electric vehicle (EV) maker owned by no less than Elon Musk maintains the top spot in the America-Made Index.
But the number EV this time is no longer its Model 3 sedan. Instead, the Model Y SUV reigned on top of the list, as per a news story by CNET.
It is worth noting that Tesla Model Y outperformed 95 other vehicles in the ranking, according to a recent report by Newsweek.
American-Made Index Top 10
The Editor-in-Chief of Cars.com, Jenni Newman, says that "the composition of this year's much-anticipated American-Made Index is particularly interesting in the context of our current marketplace."
The Cars.com chief editor highlights that gas prices are remarkably high nowadays. Plus, the inventory of these vehicles has been particularly scarce as well.
Aside from these two realities, Newman notes that EVs face their "peak consumer interest." And the EIC also says that there is "a heightened demand for American-made products."
As mentioned, the Tesla Model Y is second to none in the rankings, which rises from the third spot it got in 2021.
Last year's number one, the Tesla Model 3, is down to the second spot, followed by two SUVs, the Lincoln Corsair and the Honda Passport.
Tesla Model X and Model S entered the top 10 list this year, garnering the fifth and sixth ranks, respectively. Meanwhile, Jeep Cherokee sits in the seventh spot.
Honda gets the last three spots. The Ridgeline is at eight, whereas the Odyssey and Pilot sit in the last two spots.

Tesla and Honda Dominate
The giant EV maker, Tesla, now dominates the top 10 ranking of the American-made Index, along with the Japanese carmaker, Honda.
In 2021, Tesla only had two vehicles in the top 10 list, whereas Honda, the dominator of last year, had four.
But thanks to the arrival of the Model S and Model X, Tesla now has four vehicles in the top 10 rankings.
Meanwhile, Honda maintains at least four vehicles in the highest ranking, making it and Tesla the top dominators on the American-made survey, at least in the top 10 category.
