Paramount+, the global streaming service from Paramount Global, plans to commission 150 international originals by 2025. The internationally originated content will debut around the world.
The announcement of the streaming service comes ahead of Paramount+'s expansion to the UK and Ireland on June 22, Italy in September, Germany, Switzerland, Austria (GSA) and France in December.
Paramount Reveals Details About the Seven Originals
On Tuesday, Paramount revealed details about the seven originals, which will include content from Germany, Italy, France, and Mexico. The following titles are included in the slate.
"Murder of God's Banker" is an international 4-part docuseries. In the docuseries, an Italian fugitive banker Roberto Calvi was murdered and his body is found hanging off a London bridge. His death was initially declared a suicide, but it was later unveiled that many wanted him dead. CreativeChaos vmg in association with VIS produced the docuseries.
A fantasy horror thriller from France entitled "Marie Antoinette Serial Killer" is another series in the slate of Paramount+. It was executive produced by Beth Tapper, Mitch Watson and Leila Smith. The series was based on the book with the same title by author Katie Alender. It follows the story of four young American girls on spring break in Paris, who find themselves caught up in a mysterious, almost supernatural murder spree.
"A Thin Line" from Germany follows the story of young "hacktivist" twin sisters Anna (Saskia Rosendahl) and Benni (Hanna Hilsdorf). Using any means necessary, the twins are in their quest to expose environmental wrongdoing. It is produced by Weydemann Bros. Serial Drama in association with VIS.
"The Sheikh" (Der Scheich) from Germany is inspired by true events. It tells the story of Ringo (Björn Meyer), a one-of-a-kind con artist. Ridiculed as the village idiot in his hometown, he eventually reinvents himself as the heir of an Arabic fortune. The series is created and written by multi-award-winning filmmaker Dani Levy, who also directs together with Johannes Naber. The tragicomic series is produced by X Filme Creative Pool and VIS.
"CIRCEO" from Italy tells the story of the aftermath of the crime that which upset Italy in the 1970s. The crime is known as "The Circeo Massacre." It involved two teenage girls that were found in the trunk of a car in Rome, naked, wrapped in blankets and drenched in blood. The series is written by Flaminia Gressi, Viola Rispoli and Lisa Nur Sultan and directed by Andrea Molaioli. It is produced by Cattleya in partnership with VIS for Paramount+ and Rai in Italy.
"Sinaloa's First Lady" from Mexico chronicles the fascinating yet volatile life of El Chapo's infamous Beauty Queen Bride, Emma Coronel. The series was produced by VIS in association with Braven Films. It was starred and produced by John Leguizamo with Frida Torresblanco also producing.
"One Must Die" is also from Mexico. It is a suspense thriller movie that centers around seven people. These people were kidnapped and eventually find themselves part of a deadly game. The movie was produced by VIS in association with 11:11 FILMS.

Paramount Aims to Duplicate Success of Other Streaming Platforms
This move from Paramount illustrates that the streaming service is likely to imitate the success of other platforms in their own international originals.
Last year, Netflix's Squid Game was proved to be successful. It became the streaming service's biggest-ever series at launch. French thriller Lupin has been a hit in Netflix as well.
Apple TV Plus subscriber would probably be interested to watch "Pachinko." It is a drama about a Korean immigrant family. Apple recently renewed "Pachinko" for a second season.
In addition to its global content, Paramount+ offers an expansive lineup of premium locally originated programming. The streaming service is serving all types of audiences in all markets where the service is available.
VIS, Paramount's international studio will be Paramount+'s partner in producing the originals. VIS is a division of the company's vast worldwide studio footprint.
