[RUMOR] Apple’s AR/VR Headset Could Be Revealed by Early 2023

Have you been eagerly anticipating the release of Apple's mixed reality headset?

Apple fans waiting for official details about the company's mixed reality headset will no longer have to wait as much as have already done. That is if the rumors swirling about in the internet are accurate.

The Cupertino-based company is allegedly gearing up to reveal its mixed reality headset, meaning one that has both virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), sometime in early 2023, according to reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, per a Medium blog post.

Apple's mixed-reality headset was rumored to be in development sometime in early 2022, but reports in April suggest that the headset will hit store shelves by early 2023.

Apple Mixed-Reality Headset Reveal Details

Apple's mixed-reality headset is reportedly a "gamechanger," according to Kuo due to the headset supporting video see-thru allegedly providing an "excellent immersive experience" to its user.

Although Kuo described the headset as "the most complicated product," Apple has ever designed, its launch is expected to further boost the demand for "immersive gaming/multimedia entertainment."

The headset is predicted to be so successful that Kuo predicts that many of the tech giant's rivals, like Meta, in the AR/VR industry will compete to imitate the company's headset. As a result, Apple would be leading the headset hardware industry to "the next stage of rapid growth" benefiting the related services and content ecosystem.

However, Kuo is certain that Apple will be revealing or announcing the headset in January 2023, during an event Apple will be holding.

DigiTimes' report on the headset also coincides with Kuo's findings, with Digittimes' report mentioning that the headset will start to be mass-produced in August or September.

Apple Mixed Reality Headset - What To Expect

The Apple Mixed Reality Headset is allegedly compatible with augmented reality and virtual reality programs. It appears to be equipped with features that will let it compete with Meta's Oculus Quest 2, the best VR headset in both performance and price, and the PSVR 2, according to Tom's Guide.

The PSVR2 is said to feature immersive displays and haptic feedback similar to the PS5's DualSense controllers.

The headset is different from Apple Glass, which only supports augmented reality.

A Macrumors article mentioned that the headset would feature a curved visor and a face-fitting soft mesh. It will also be lighter than other headsets on the market and will use a strap similar to what an Apple Watch uses to hold it in place.

Its visor will reportedly have two micro-OLED displays, 15 camera modules, processors comparable to the M-Series chips, eye-tracking capabilities, hand gesture support, and spatial audio.

However, the features, while impressive, could also leave a mark on a person's wallet - the headset is expected to cost somewhere around $3,000.
