Apple's high-end TVs have just become more attractive to consumers.
The Cupertino-based tech giant recently launched a promotion wherein purchases of its high-end TVs, the Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K, will come with a gift card despite the TVs' prices staying the same.
Apple might have launched the promotion to clear its existing inventory before the hardware refresh comes in the fall, per 9to5Mac.
Apple TV HD And Apple TV 4K Promotion Facts
Apple mentioned in its promotion launch announcement that Apple TV 4k and Apple TV HD purchases from July 1 to July 14 in the US would also come with a $50 Apple Gift Card.
This gift card could then be used to buy products, accessories, apps, games, music, movies, TV shows, iCloud+, and other Apple products or items that Apple is selling through its App Store or online store., per Apple's Gift Card page.
However, only purchases and deliveries from a qualifying location will receive a $50 Apple Gift Card. This exclusion means that only the official Apple Online Store and Apple Stores within the US can give a $50 Apple Gift Card with every purchase of Apple TVs.
Unfortunately, resellers of any kind will not be participating in the promotion.
Apple also reminded consumers in its announcement that the $50 Apple Gift Card is not a "gift," and that the gift card promotion offer expires when the purchase transaction is complete.
Additionally, Apple Gift Cards can only be acquired on a 1:1 basis, meaning that for every Apple TV you buy, you get only one $50 gift card. However, buying more than two Apple TVs to get more than two Apple gift cards is prohibited.
Should You Go For It?
The tech giant may have launched the promotion to sell its existing inventory of Apple TV HDs and TV 4Ks before the hardware refresh this fall.
Interestingly, both Apple TVs are considered to be on the far end of the expensive side of the price spectrum, with them being too pricey for consumers and critics. This priciness could have been the cause of Apple launching the promotion as there could be many Apple TVs that are currently left unsold.
The $50 Apple Gift Card could sweeten the deal for interested customers, especially those who are planning to get one anyway. However, those who are looking to get an Apple TV but couldn't pay for an Apple TV's current price can opt to wait for the release of the newest upcoming Apple TV.
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman mentioned that the upcoming Apple TV, codenamed J255, is better and cheaper than the current iterations, with the new one being equipped with a faster A14 chip and 1GB of extra RAM. It is also allegedly useful for additional gaming capabilities rolling out in tvOS 16, Apple TVs' operating system.
Apple is currently developing J255, which is expected to be released to the public sometime in fall 2022.
