Every English-Language Nintendo SNES Manual Has Been Uploaded Online

Nintendo SNES manuals in English have been uploaded online by streamer Peebs.

This initiative was led by a Twitch streamer named Peebs, who started his quest in October 2020.

The goal of this community effort was to track down every Super Nintendo manual that has ever been published, digitize it, and make it available on the internet.

And as of July 1, 2022, this collective project has reached its most crucial milestone of completing the SNES manuals.

Peebs went to Twitter and expressed his gratitude to everyone who made this possible.

The streamer stated, "We couldn't have done this without all of the help from everyone else on

twitter, discord, reddit.

Spreading the word on social media helped in completing the project. Peebs added, "Spreading the word and helping track down manuals here and there."

The crew that was working on the project had uploaded over 600 scans, and they needed approximately 100 more manuals in order to complete their task of scanning the instructions for every game that was ever released in the West during the lifespan of the console.

Kotaku reports that the final English-language game manual for the Super Nintendo has been scanned and released thanks to the efforts of a community project led by the streamer Peebs.

While he was on an eight-year mission to play and win every Super Nintendo Entertainment System game for his audience on Twitch, Peebs was inspired to compile a centralized repository for manuals.

Despite the challenges of sorting through manuals of different games, the project began to encounter hurdles, and the task began to get harder.

As they dived deep into the SNES' library, the community found the strangest and rarest games in the collection that were difficult to find.

However, on July 1, Peebs tweeted that the community did it.

That implies that the archives of the project now contain an English manual for each and every Super Nintendo game that has ever been commercially distributed in the language.

The collection of manuals has different versions; some were North American versions, and some were in the European or Australasian versions. Some games have an abundance of resources, which is why some games have both.

Game Manuals

The younger generation of gamers might be in awe of these efforts as they are now used to just searching for them all online, but back in the days, manuals were a big thing.

Game manuals were frequently required reading in the past. The care and attention to detail that went into the creation of those vintage instruction manuals was on a completely different level.

When comparing the manuals from back then and nowadays, the page count was also significantly more than what is included with modern games.

According to The Verge, this community project led by Peebs is definitely more comprehensive.

It is a more thorough archive of gaming history than the online instructions that Nintendo gives for each game on the NES Classic and SNES Classic devices.

This project was a collective effort of groups and individuals who have the rarest games that are difficult to get and contributed images to the online collection.

Peebs stated that there were around one hundred people who contributed to the challenge. In just two years, the project went from 52% to 100%.
