Samsung fans in Canada will soon be able to get their hands on the 6.3-inch Galaxy Mega as carriers Rogers and TELUS will offer the device soon.
No specific date for the launch of the phablet in Canada has been given yet but Samsung revealed that the colossal Galaxy Mega will hit the region "in the coming weeks."
"We are proud to introduce Canadians to the GALAXY MEGA - a device that will truly enable them to live large," said Paul Brannen, VP Enterprise Business Division Samsung Electronics Canada Inc. "At Samsung, we have worked hard to ensure that we offer Canadians a broad variety of high quality mobile devices designed to meet their individual needs - which is why we are so excited to add the GALAXY MEGA to our line up."
Canadian carriers Rogers, TELUS and Bell are all expected to offer the 6.3-inch model of the Galaxy Mega, which Samsung introduced in April this year. Rogers took to its Twitter account to announce that it will begin retailing the phablet soon.
"The Galaxy Mega from @samsungmobileca with 6'3-inch display and super-fast LTE speeds will be coming soon to Rogers!" tweeted the carrier on Aug.13.
TELUS, on the other hand, posted a 'coming soon' page on its website with an image of the Galaxy Mega in black. Moreover, MobileSyrup claims it received an email from the carrier which "stated that specific pricing and availability will be unveiled shortly."
No word from Bell or other Canadian carriers on the launch of the Galaxy Mega 6.3 yet.
To rejog your memory, the LTE-enabled Galaxy Mega touts a huge 6.3-inch 720p display. Under the hood, the device houses a 1.7GHz dual-core processor and packs in 1.5GB of RAM. The Galaxy Mega 6.3 also boasts an 8-megapixel primary camera and a 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera. The massive Android-powered Samsung phablet also packs a powerful 3200mAh battery. The Rogers variant of the device is expected to come pre-loaded with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.
Both Rogers and TELUS are yet to reveal a specific date for the availability of the Galaxy Mega 6.3, as well as the pricing of the phablet.
In July, however, a leaked internal document for Rogers revealed that the Galaxy Mega would hit the shelves in early September. It is likely that the Galaxy Mega 6.3 will hit all Canadian carriers around the same time and, therefore, we can look forward to a September release.
