But this time, the temperature has already reached levels that the UK has never experienced in its long history, as per the latest story by The Verge.

The heat wave has triggered the temperature to go as high as 104.4 Fahrenheit or 40.2 degrees Celsius.

And as such, the servers of tech giants Google and Oracle, which seems to be not built in this extreme heat, started experiencing outages.

The 40.2 record-breaking temperature in the British territory has crashed the cooling systems at the data center of Oracle and Google in the country.

So the two firms decided to temporarily turn off their equipment in the affected facilities to prevent any further permanent damage, which, in turn, could end up in longer outages.

The Verge notes that both giant firms have cited the extreme temperatures to be the cause of the recent outages.

Google Server Outage

The Google Cloud status page reports that the data centers of the renowned tech giant in the UK are suffering from "cooling-related failure."

The search engine firm shares that "in order to prevent damage to machines and an extended outage, we have powered down part of the zone and are limiting GCE preemptible launches."

The status page also reports that the engineering team at Google is still working to restore its cooling systems.

Oracle Outage

According to the latest report by Bleeping Computer, the extreme temperatures in the UK first ruined the cooling systems of Oracle.

Oracle Cloud shares that its UK South (London) Data Center is facing issues with its cooling systems. The tech firm notes it is "a result of unseasonal temperatures in the region."

The status page of Oracle Cloud assures its customers that "all impacted cooling infrastructure in the UK South (London) datacenter has been restored to an operational state."

It means that the majority of its services that have been down during the cooling system failure are up and running.

However, a few customers might still experience problems accessing its services as its Compute hypervisors still face some issues.

UK Heatwave

The UK is experiencing a scorching heat wave these days, bringing the temperature to unusually high numbers in the European nation.

Besides the latest outage on Google and Oracle, it has disrupted some railways in the country, as well as the London Luton Airport.
