Instagram is Under Fire From Users Including Kylie Jenner

Kylie Jenner, a well-known Instagram user with 361 million followers, shared a photo calling out Instagram, which sparked an uproar.

Instagram Users and Celebrities Criticized Its Changes Over Time

This week, the Meta-owned photo-sharing software came under criticism for how it has altered over time. The controversy began on Monday (July 25) when Kylie Jenner, a famous Instagram user with 361 million followers, posted a picture with the message, "Make Instagram Instagram again."

On Tuesday (July 26), Instagram's CEO Adam Mosseri made an effort to allay users' ire over the app's recent addition of features that make it more like the massively popular Chinese-owned video app TikTok. Instagram is worried that TikTok is stealing its users' attention.

Instagram recently began experimenting where videos were prioritized in user feeds and where photographs and videos filled up the whole screen, from top to bottom, instead of just a piece of it, to stop a drop. It stated last week that all films will be presented as Reels, which were debuted as quick video montages, and incorporated features that promote user cooperation.

Changes on other platforms have already irritated social media-savvy celebrities like Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian, which has had an impact.

After updating its user interface so that users had to swipe between screens to access different services in February 2018, Snapchat, Ms. Jenner tweeted, " Sooo someone else doesn't open Snapchat anymore? Or is it just me... ugh, this is so sad."

Kim Kardashian, Jenner's half-sister and the sixth most followed Instagram user, repeated, "PRETTY PLEASE" in a subsequent posting.

The market capitalization of Snap, the parent company of Snapchat, fell by $1.3 billion in only one week.

Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri Responds to App Users' Concerns via Reel

Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri released a video today (July 27) to address concerns about the app's feed and video concentration. Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner, the two most-followed women on Instagram, disliked the new features.

Mosseri was compelled to post a reel of his own to correct the record on some of these tests and tweaks as a result of all the unfavorable comments.

The contentious full-screen feed is just a test for a limited number of people, as Mosseri confirmed. However, he admitted that this new design is not exactly ideal.

He continued by responding to users' worries over the disappearance of photographs from an app that was once a haven for photographers.

Mosseri tweeted hours after posting the video that he too wants to see more material from friends, but that growth has primarily happened in DMs and stories.

In the petition the Kardashians shared (which is impossible to access as Kim and Kylie tweeted screenshots of another person's story), there are more requests beyond bringing back more images.

Tati Bruening, the petition's founder, wants Instagram to listen to artists more honestly.

Users have expressed frustration with Instagram's "recommendations" feature, which shows material from accounts you don't follow on your feeds. In essence, Instagram seems to be attempting to duplicate the popularity of the TikTok For You Page.
