Apple removes its dial-up modem internet guide in its latest macOS Ventura beta 4.
Essentially, the Cupertino-tech giant is no longer going to help macOS users when they are trying to set up a dial-up modem internet on their Mac if ever they oddly want to stay away from WiFi.
Apple's macOS Ventura Beta Kills Dial-Up Modem Internet Support
While dial-up modem internet has become extremely rare these days, wherein WiFi and 5G cellular data have dominated, Apple has been helping macOS users to connect to the former.
Not until the Cupertino-based tech giant rolled out the latest macOS Ventura beta 4 or macOS 13.
As per a news story by 9to5 Mac, Apple released its macOS Ventura beta 4 to developers on July 27, introducing a few refinements.
The online news outlet notes that one of the interesting updates in the last beta of macOS Ventura has something to do with its support for dial-up internet.
9to5 Mac highlights that the latest update of macOS completely removes its user guide for connecting Macs to a dial-up modem.
It is worth noting that the previous versions of macOS stuffed a dial-up internet guide, helping users set up the old school modem connection if ever they want to do so.
For some reason, Apple includes a piece of document in the macOS system, which specifically guides its users step-by-step about connection to dial-up internet.
But this time, the latest beta release of macOS ditches the user guide altogether. In fact, 9to5 Mac reports that the help article is nowhere to be found in the new beta 4 update.
Apple's New System Preferences
It comes as the new macOS Ventura has radically redesigned the System Preferences app for Macs. It is to note that the whole thing is now simply named System Settings.
Apart from the new name and fresh overall look, System Settings have also let go of the user guide for connecting to dial-up internet.
The old guide that Apple provides still refers to the old System Preferences on Macs.
Rightfully so, not many would be interested in setting up their Macs to a slow and unreliable dial-up internet.
But it appears that some folks are still using a USB modem even as the built-in dial-up option on Macs has long been gone.
