MrBeast Sets Another YouTube History, Becomes the Second Mainstream YouTuber to Hit 100 Million Subscribers

MrBeast, the popular YouTuber who's known for giving away money and for his offbeat stunts, set another YouTube history.

MrBeast's main YouTube channel surpassed 100 million subscribers on Thursday, July 28, according to Variety.

"100 million means so much. I've been making videos since I was 11 years old. This number in a way represents everything I've ever done in my life." MrBeast, who is also known as Jimmy Donaldson, said in a statement.

Moreover, he expressed his gratitude to the people who watched his video. He said that he "hope to do YouTube until the day I die."

MrBeast to Release a New Merchandise and Video to Celebrate His Milestone

To celebrate his new milestone, MrBeast is planning to release a new merchandise through an exclusive shoppable livestream on YouTube.

According to YouTube, MrBeast will also upload one of his most expensive videos ever made on Aug. 4.

The 24-year-old YouTuber is said to be 2021's highest-earning content creator, with $54 million earning last year, as per Variety.

MrBeast is still no. 5 on the list of most-subscribed YouTube channels. He came after T-Series (221 million), Moonbug's Cocomelon (139 million), SET India (138 million) and PewDiePie (111 million).

One of MrBeast's most memorable videos is "456,000 Squid Game In Real Life!" wherein he remade the set of Netflix hit show "Squid Game."

In the video he gave 456 people a chance to win $456,000. It has 272 million views on his main channel.

Another memorable video, which received 185 million views is the "I Spent 50 Hours Buried Alive." In the video, MrBeast was buried underground inside a coffin for 50 hours.

And with over 100 million views, he made the famous video "I Gave People $1,000,000 But ONLY 1 Minute To Spend It!" Here, complete strangers have 60 seconds to spend $1 million that MrBeast would pay for.

Getting to Know MrBeast

MrBeast was born in Greenville, North Carolina. He has been posting video in YouTube since 2012 under the moniker MrBeast6000. His first ever video is himself playing Minecraft, according to Dot Esports.

His first viral creation came in 2017. His "I Counted To 100,000!" video amassed over 100,000 views in the first day and now has 26 million.

In 2018, MrBeast started creating content with him giving large sums of money to strangers, according to Mashable. This gained a lot of attention.

With the increasing subscribers and support, he decided to diversify his content and eventually, he started his production studio dubbed as Team Beast.

In 2019, he set a record for the most-liked creator video with his video entitled "Make This Video The Most Liked Video On Youtube". In 2020, he ended up as the no. 1 most-subscribed creator in the U.S.

The central factor to MrBeast's appeal is he has pushed the traditional YouTube challenge format to "new and ridiculous heights." Moreover, he also regularly organizes big charity fundraisers

MrBeast has a YouTube empire comprised of 18 channels. It includes the main MrBeast, MrBeast Shorts, MrBeast Gaming, Beast Reacts and Beast Philanthropy.
