Verizon announces LG Enact with slide-out QWERTY keyboard

Verizon has announced the LG Enact, a handset designed for first-time smartphone users. The smartphone offers a large QWERTY keyboard, Android Jelly Bean, 4G LTE and more for $19.99.

Verizon is looking to have more of its customers switch to a smartphone and is offering the LG Enact, which was designed with first-time smartphone users in mind. The smartphone offers users a large 4-inch display and a slide out QWERTY keyboard that makes typing and navigating a breeze. It's also the first Android smartphone in a while to be released with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. The LG Enact also includes a 4G LTE radio to run on Verizon's high-speed network.

Some of the LG Enact's keyboard, battery, multitasking and productivity features include:

  • Dedicated QWERTY keys offer shortcuts, saving you time when texting, checking emails or surfing the web.
  • An extra row displaying numbers on the keyboard means you don't have to press "alt" to view them.
  • With Android function keys, you won't have to shift from keyboard to touchscreen.
  • When typing, the improved "click" feedback feature helps to reduce typos.
  • Experience more each day with a powerful battery. Spend more time visiting your favorite websites, playing games and sending texts with the long-lasting 2460 mAh battery.
  • Keep several apps open at once, with no need to go back-and-forth from the Home screen. With QSlide 2.0TM, you can open two apps as windows while other programs are running in the background.
  • Use your fingers to write a note on an image, add comments to a screenshot and instantly share via messaging or social media with QuickMemoTM.
  • Need something translated fast? Q Translator uses the camera to scan and translate 44 languages.

The Verizon LG Enact features a 4-inch WVGA 800 x 400 resolution Gorilla Glass display and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard with Google Search and Write and Share keys. The smartphone runs Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, includes 8GB of internal storage and a microSD expansion slot that supports up to 64GB microSD cards. It also includes a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a VGA front facing camera and camcorder. Its wireless capabilities include 4G LTE radio, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS. The smartphone packs in a large 2,460 mAh battery.

Verizon is now offering the LG Enact for $19.99 when signing a new 2-year contract online and in its retail stores.
